I recently watched the documentary on Illmatic and I have to say it might be the best one so far showcasing the Hip-Hop culture. The Tribe one was cool and all however, I never really got into them that much. Nas tho? Nas album changed my view on the world. I looked at my community different. I dressed different. I rapped different. I wanted the half moon part! R.I.P. to my homie Brian Young who had a brother from New York that came to St.Louis one summer and had the bootleg Nas tape. When he rode wit us in my best friend Bob's rust stained Aspen that leaked gas so bad the fumes stayed in your clothes, we played the tape and was in awe of every song. The beats were nod inducing. The wordplay was incredible like nothing we had ever heard before. And the rapper just seemed so cool! Nas was the epitome was an emcee to me as a kid. I wrote this song so long ago I don't even remember the date lol. Kenautis Smith produced it and to this day hates this beat. I hate how I keep takin quick sharp breaths between bars and somewhat yelling my verses. I was super hype to be rapping over an original beat for a change. Other rappers can tell I did this in one take tho so that counts for something. Enjoy
