I’d like your opinion on factkin using the terminology of factid instead. I’ve been curating discussions with any/all alterbeing comfortable with putting forth their two cents. My goal is to finally separate our terminology away from otherkinity (though not of alterhumanity) due to misidentification and I’d love your viewpoint.
Factid was brought to my attention via the NNP forum due to fictionkin apparently briefly using the term fictid but it wasn’t successful in popularizing. I’m wondering if you’ve seen the term used back then and have an idea on why it may haven’t of stuck.
I'm just gonna state upfront (for the sake of my inbox over the next 48 hours more than anything) that my opinion on factkin in general is complicated, but this post ain't about that, so I'm not gonna get into it. (Nor am I particularly interested in getting into the factkin debate right this second for personal reasons, so asks trying to start it up again may or may not just get deleted, fair warning.)
As far as the term goes: I don't really have a strong opinion on it, honestly. I'm not a huge fan of it aesthetically, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I don't know if it will catch on, but you can certainly try. The only thing I can say is that I kind of have a negative instinctive reaction to the term ID used as a noun in alterhuman communities, because for me it's gotten associated with kintype "tiers" which in turn are associated with people who don't actually understand that a kintype is something you identify as and are differentiating between the two unnecessarily, but I don't think that's necessarily a big enough thing to warrant forgoing the term forever.
Ultimately it's kind of up to factkin people imo, not to me.
