lizzie deserves someone good. who is unproblematic and good TO HER. she deserves someone understanding and who doesn’t find her weird or eccentric or a lot. as someone that identifies with lizzie saltzman, i like her with ethan. i would love an ethan myself and I am really excited for the potential the ship has! i am now a lethan shipper :)
mg doesn’t work bcs as much as lizzie likes him as a person, I don’t think she’s attracted to him. Sebastian didn’t work because for all that attraction, they didn’t actually connect on an intellectual level (as an ex-sizzie shipper, i would love if they did re-explore that dynamic because I think it was actually really good and had so much room).
if you would get your head out of your arse you would see that ethan actually works really well w/ lizzie. Ethan is not only attractive to lizzie (as much as relationships shouldn’t be based off physical chemistry, it’s still an important aspect), he is also kind and puts the ones he loves above others. one of the biggest issues Lizzie constantly has is not being put first by anyone. I think that Ethan (if written correctly, could really become someone she can be dependant on). also I really like that ethan is human and obviously cannot do certain things (again if written correctly) we could really see Lizzie relishing in helping him and protecting him. The dynamic has a lot of potential for the funny old-married couple trope. Again based on what’s been shown to us of their characters individually I wouldn’t be surprised if Ethan becomes Lizzie’s voice of reason and Lizzie becomes Ethan's biggest motivator in terms of getting back on track with football. I want a friendship with mg and ethan btw where mg gets a proper love interest who loves and respects him.
you just don’t ship them because we haven’t seen enough of it. ( they have however set up ethan (loyal, loving, protective, understanding) and lizzie (loyal, loving, insecure, trying her best) individually as characters and they do suit each other) (i’ll make a more detailed post about how they suit each other)
however by the logic of screenwriters introducing something in the last couple episodes, helps set it up for the first half of the following season. meaning they are going to establish them most likely and y’all can then make an informed decision as to whether or not you like them.
