Since you left I've gotten new scars.

Since you left I've gotten rid of the shakes, the fits where I couldn't move from the chair to dance with you.

I am mobile now- I can move under the dim lights in ways you never saw. I've soaked in hot springs under unfamiliar stars. Listened to foreign birdsong on winding mountain trails. Walked and walked and walked along deserted streets past relics of what was, laughing all the while because I could never be alone.

I don't know what happened to that girl you knew. That girl you couldn't love is faded into memory and I am standing in her place, tempered and gleaming, knowing you weren't worth me.
