We have confirmed that the twig-like thing was in fact, faeces of stray cat(s). It had attracted a lot of flies and we suspect, and is also very likely that the flies have laid eggs and therefore produced maggots, which is positively gross and worse to witness. The suspected maggots have actually slithered their way and spread to other parts of the plot. We did clean the faeces out as well as the main lair of flies, though, as shown in pictures 3 & 4. Our teacher advised us to see what happens after the Easter break and decide then whether we should plant the seeds all over again in new soil. Let’s hope the maggots won’t do too much damage...
