I told him about Rimsha Masih, the young Christian girl arrested in Pakistan because a mullah put some torn pages of the Quran in her papers. “She has now been released on bail but is still under police protection because people fear that the fanatics may kill her,” I said.

“Yes, I know the case,” said Foroud, “but what’s your point.”

“Incidents like this make me feel as if we wasted all those years, struggling for an ideal which never existed,” I said. “I guess it is impossible to take the beast out of man.”

“Do you know Ahmade Shamlu?” asked Foroud.

“The 20th century Iranian poet? Yes, I do,” I said.

“He was more disappointed than you are when he returned to Iran after the revolution,” said Foroud.

Shamlu was a major force in the intellectual movement opposed to the former Shah of Iran. In 1976, he left his country in protest against censorship and the suffocation.

But the Islamic government also considered him a traitor because of his liberal views. His popularity prevented them from arresting him, but the clerics didn’t allow publication of his works for many years.

“Remember the poem I recited for you, “They smell my breath to make sure I have not said I love you, Nazneen?” asked Foroud.

I told him I did and asked him why religious groups, whether in the government or in opposition, fear love, beauty and women.

“Above all, they fear women,” said Foroud. “They fear women because women empower men, they cause them to think and resist.”

I've been so lazy to update.. No pictures because my camera is going cray..

We had collab today! I love and hate it though. Decided that I would go to SG that day. I was gonna go with Sally, but when we were on the way to SG, Sally's dad was lecturing her so she just ended up dropping me off. Right on time too. Jacky just got out of school. We went to FTB and talked. I got my nom nom milk with caramel. (: We walked back before they got out. I had Wilson's stuff to drop off, but he went home early. <^> I wanted to talk to him too.. At the same time I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Oh wells! We went to the track meet. I got to see Justin! (: Went to FTB again to hang out with Stephanie and Victoria.Then Jen drove me back to school for the basketball game. Watched with Kirk, Chris W., Chris L.,  Brian, Ryu and Kody. I ran into my cousins.. Weird! But we won! (:

Geo was pretty boring. Didn't know it was g day so we got out earlier! Hehe Mr. Nguyen was my sub for english. (: The moment I saw him, I thought of Bridget. Didn't really work on out lit circles. Bio was alright. We finally did well on out lab doe! Pretty happy about that. Spanish was boring. Extra 20 minutes in there. I usually love that class, but lately it hasn't been much fun.

Suck a long week! Finally over with. Nothing really happened today though. Brian bought my tickets for Sadies! ): Nigga wouldn't let me pay.. Oh whales. Thaaanks best! Supposed to go to Kirk's house to make spam musubi, but it was too far! /: Ehh ended up going to Garvey's talent show. It was alright, but there weren't that many performers and they all sang. Sister came so early so I had to go home. Laame!

Sutssy sale! Woke up at ten to get ready. I thought my momma knew she was driving me to school, but she totally lagged it. I didn't get to school till 11:30. Not that many people. Lots of piles of clothes though. Looked around for forever. Couldn't find anything to match for Sadies. Only something for twin day. Stayed there for a bit and then walked to Geri's with her and Diana! Went to the basketball game with Geri, Jason, Ryu, Brian, Kirk and Chris L. The game was hella crazy. We lost by two points. ): Stayed to see Lauren. Ugh the whole team was crying. Planned to do something to cheer Lauren up a bit since it was her birthday that day too.. Went home and Linda came over for dinner! (:

Seniors' last day.. (Feeding Program & Graduation Practice)

I went to school with Tr. Love at 8 AM. When I arrived there, I went straight to the canteen to see the cooking committee. I "helped" them cook spaghetti and chicken and stayed there until 9 AM. The registration for the kids started at 9. We were already preparing for the things we need for the kids' entertainment. The kids started to arrive and we were talking to them and asking them about different things. My classmates started teaching Reading and Math, while I was there standing and watching them. I stayed outside and helped with the foods. I think the kids liked the food even though it turned out to be "Mexican-style" spaghetti. It ended at around 12:30. Then we had our lunch break till 1:30 pm. After our lunch, we waited for our graduation practice to start. I went out and saw Tr. Kith and Co. We bought shake and went to the tutorial area. We played with Magic Ball, an application on my phone. And with all the "translation" thing I did.. Laughtrip. Haha.

Our graduation practice started at 2 pm. We did it for four times. It lasted for about two hours. After our graduation practice, we had our food trip. Ihaw-ihaw. Halo-halo. Shake. Gulaman. After that, we went at Gre's place. Boom. Nutella madness w/ Christian. Then I decided to borrow Gre's bike and look for Tr. JR 'cause he told us he's at a certain FY student's house.. turns out that the house he's referring to is just on the next street. I had my own solo-flight bike trip for about 15 minutes. Then we decided to go the FY student's house. My classmates ate there. I just had some talking sessions with Tr. Annie, Tr. Love, and Tr. Diana. I walked home with Tr. JR, Tr. Annie, Tr Love and Norman, and Tr. Diana. I thought I was already grounded by that time 'cause it was already 7:30 pm. So I went straight to our place. When I arrived, they weren't mad at me at all. So, I went out again. Hahaha! I went to the BBQ place with Sam, Keith, Jem, and Ed. Just random bike trips. Then I went at Edward's place with Jem 'cause Edward introduced Jem to his mom. Sweet. :""> Then I went home at around 8:30.

It was really a tiring day. But everything's worth it. Really worth it. Every moment counts. =)
