Cursed - Secret Santa Gift

This is my Secret Santa gift for @moonwhy !! This is for the 2017 Until Dawn Secret Santa, and I chose to use their OTP Josh/Sam.

I recently read someone’s post lamenting that a lot of Jossam content had petered out (as fandoms are wont to do when there’s no canon content for a while). Also a post I put up a while ago, where I’d taken the Until Dawn cast and dropped them into Sims 4 just to mess around, had got a ton of notes, so I thought I’d let people know that this little project was a thing.

I didn’t want to clutter up all the Until Dawn related tags because there are so many pictures, so you can find it under the “Raising Xanthia” tag.

Part comedy (because Sims), part drama (because feels), part fluffy fix-it fic (because fandom), Raising Xanthia is an Until Dawn AU in which Hannah and Beth Washington disappear, but Josh’s revenge prank is discovered and stopped before he can carry it out. As a result, the characters continue with their lives in a much less chaotic fashion.

There’s also the minor point that Josh and Sam spent a night together and she became pregnant. Oops.

Josh clatters out of hospital with a completely new set of medication and offers Sam a bizarre proposal: that they live together with their daughter in the house his parents have bought him.

Against all her misgivings, she agrees.

So begins their strange journey through life, attempting to raise their daughter when neither of them know what they’re doing, and quite possibly falling in love in the process.

So if that sounds like your thing, hop over to my Sims side-blog. I’ve also got a Berry Sweet legacy running on that, but Raising Xanthia is my top priority right now. It’s silly, it’s indulgent, it’s fanficcy - but it’s proving to be quite a ride, so I hope you’ll join me for it.

I’m just now realizing on my platinum play-through that Sam’s romance goes up after high-fiving Josh, my Jossam heart is flipping right now omg LIKE HOW DID I NOT EVEN THINK TO CHECK HER STATS AFTER THAT INTERACTION BEFORE???

I don't think the Josh x Sam ship is inherently bad or creepy. Hear me out, please.

He absolutely violated her with recording her in the bath and chasing her around. The ship is as good as destroyed by the time that happens.

But I haven't seen a single person like or "ship" Psycho Josh and Sam. They like their relationship prior to that, because it was completely normal. And then they view them as a tragic "what could've been" ship after the fact, with Sam's "I thought we had a connection" line and all.

I think SAM shipped Josh x Sam and that's why she took it so hard, because she thought they had something going but then he spiraled off the deep end and attacked her.

I see Josh x Sam shippers be labeled as "creeps" nowadays, and I just don't think that's fair. No one's shipping Josh traumatizing Sam. They're shipping what could've been; what should've been.

I mean, the ship name was literally changed from Bathing Bird to 30 Love for this exact reason. Bathing Bird sounds cool, sure, but it did not represent why anyone actually likes the ship. 30 Love does.
