It was one of those nights. You just couldn't sleep, or rather stay asleep. Feeling both physically and mentally tired. Tossing and turning. Shifting the blankets off and on. Adjusting your pillow. Nothing seemed to work.
Bleary eyes stare blankly at the empty space in your bed. With a sigh you force your tired body up, stumbling only a few times as you make your way to your boyfriend's office.
The lights were off but the dimmed glow from his work computer illuminated his perpetually tired face. One hand typing slowly at his keyboard while the other sat snugly around his mug. More than likely filled with your strongest caffeine blend.
His gaze trailed to you as you approached. "One of those nights?" The only response you could muster was a tired nod. "I still have more work to complete but you know your welcome to stay here." He turned his chair as he spoke, offering you a place in his lap. Not wasting a second more you’re curled up against him. Both hands found places to loosely clutch at his shirt while your face found its place against his neck.
Once you were settled he shifted his seat to reface his computer. Though now his hand abandoned its place on his mug to run soothing circles over your lower back. His warmth and steady heartbeat finally helped lull you to sleep. Your last shreds of consciousness catching the soft press of lips against the crown of your head.

Rays of light danced over your closed eyes. Subconsciously letting out a little sigh, you listen as the world slowly awakens around you. Snuggling further into the chest in front of you, willing sleep to re-embrace you. The sound of a steady heartbeat soothing you along.
However, the body behind you begins shifting. Fingertips trace paths up and down your sides in a teasing motion. You can't help but try and shift away from the ticklish sensation, earning you a chuckle in response. "What's wrong, love? Can't fall back asleep?"
You huffed, reopening your eyes to send a half-hearted glare over your shoulder. "I would have fallen back asleep if you'd stopped letting your hands wander."
Shunsui let out a breathy chuckle, voice raspy from sleep. "Is it such a crime to want to memorize every inch of my spouse's body?" He winked, causing you to roll your eyes, a lazy smirk tugging at his lips.
"After all the nights we've shared, I'm surprised you don't already have it memorized."
"Never hurts to re-familiarize oneself."
A soft chuckle captures both of your attention. "My, you two are lively this morning." Jushiro gazes at the two of you, exhaustion still clear on his face however his brown eyes were filled with nothing but adoration.
Leaning close, you place a gentle kiss on his lips. "Sorry for waking you Jushiro."
He chuckles again, right hand reaching up to gently cup your face. His wedding bands glow in the soft morning light. "Please," he places another soft kiss on your lips. Once you part, he reaches over you to place a kiss on Shunsui's smiling face. "Every morning I wake beside the two of you is a dream that never ends."
“Aaaand…. Done!” Patting off your apron causes a cloud of flour to puff up around you. Fanning the flour out of your face before letting your gaze flitter around the messy kitchen. Glancing at your phone, there was about an hour before your friends would arrive.
Placing the dirty dishes and utensils into the sink before leaving the kitchen to find the vacuum. After obtaining said device you backtrack towards the kitchen, but froze as you enter the doorway. Staring on in horror as a slice is taken out of the perfectly decorated cake you’d just spent hours on, and a large fork full is plopped into your boyfriend's mouth.
“TSUKISHIMA KEI!!” The bastard dares to look back at you and raise an eyebrow. “That cake was for the party later!”
“And? It’s my birthday, why can’t I eat a slice of my cake?”
“Because that cake was for everyone!”
“I doubt they’ll notice.”
You shoot him a deadpan look. “I know Hinata and Kageyama weren’t the smartest back in high school but they’re not that dumb.”
“I’d beg to differ.”
You huff in annoyance whilst pinching the bridge of your nose. Though you're surprised when you open your eyes and find a fork full of cake is waiting in front of your face. "It's really good you should try some."
"Better be good," you snort "I spent all morning on it." Taking the bite, you hum as the sweet lightness hits your taste buds. A hand raised up wiping a bit of cream from the corner of your mouth before you feel lips briefly press against your cheek.
"You did good, thank you."
You didn't try to hide the smile forming on your lips. Your boyfriend sure can be a pain, but he's your pain. "Happy birthday, Kei."

Takes place during Kyoto Winds. You know, back when things were somewhat happier.
Hearing your name called out, you turn to find Harada making his way towards you. You bow your head in greetings. “Good evening Harada. You’ve returned early from Shimabara, is there something I can help you with?”
“Yes, I need to ask you for a favor.” Your head tilts in question and he continues. “Shinpachi passed out a little ways back, could you go find him and make sure he gets back safely?”
“Wait, if he’s passed out, why didn’t you carry him back Harada?” Not even a second after you’d asked was he face-first on the ground. “Ah, that’s why.” Chizuru rounded the corner at that moment. “Chizuru! Perfect timing. Could you help Harada back to his room? I need to go out and make sure Nagakura isn’t dead.”You gesture to the ground and the rave-haired girl let out a startled gasp as she saw the unconscious man.
After making sure Chizuru wouldn’t have a hard time with Harada, you left the headquarters.

Thankfully you didn’t have to travel far before you spotted Nagakura’s body laid across the dirt. He was on his back, gaze turned towards the sky as his chest moved in steady breaths. “Oh good, you’re not dead!”
Nagakura’s head tipped backward and as his eyes landed on you a bright smile tugged at his lips. “Ah! Wow, my wish really did come true!” Coming to a stop a few steps from where he laid, you cocked a brow at him.
“Why are you laying on the floor Nagakura?”
“Ah, well…” He blinked a couple of times as if realizing that he was indeed laying on the floor. His face was flushed, a clear sign that he was very much still intoxicated. “Oh right! I tripped and couldn’t get back up.” He smiled again and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“So now you’re just stargazing?” The brunette hummed while nodding his head happily. Your head tilted to the side, curious about what he’d said before. “So did you wish upon a star and it came true?” He nodded again so you decided to ask him what he’d wished for.
“Well…” You waited patiently as it took his alcohol clouded brain a moment to collect his thoughts. “The sky looked really beautiful tonight and suddenly I had the thought that I wished you were here to look at it with me.” His eyes were crinkled from how brightly he was smiling up at you.
Crouching down so you could look into his face better, you couldn’t help but smile fondly down at him. “Oh? You want me to see something you found beautiful?” One of your hands reaches out to brush some dirt off of his face. However, when you start to retract your hand, one of his shoots out and presses your hand back to his face.
“I want to show you so many beautiful things.” Green orbs stared deeply into your own. His next sentence was mumbled but you were so close you could hear it clearly. “You deserve to see nothing but beautiful things.” Your eyes widen at his words, not expecting such a response.
“And why’s that?”
“Because you’re so incredibly beautiful.” A silence settles over the both of you as you stare into each other’s eyes. It’s broken a couple of seconds later as you burst into laughter.
“Okay yeah, you’re way too drunk, let's get you home.” Standing up and brushed your clothes off, you fondly shake your head at the man still staring up at you. It didn’t take long for you to heave him off of the ground and begin hauling him back to the Shinsengumi headquarters.
Even after you’d tucked him into bed you couldn’t shake the way he had looked at you the whole way back. As if you had been the one to hang the moon and all the stars in the sky. Even if he didn’t remember this conversation in the morning, you couldn’t help but fantasize about what a future with Nagakura could be like.
One in which he truly did show you all the beautiful things.

The door shuts softly behind you, a tired yet contented sigh leaving you. Living with seven lords of hell can be extremely tiring. However, there's never a dull moment. The shuffling of sheets and a huffed breath reaches your ears.
"You're late."
You give Belphie an apologetic smile as you shuffle closer to your bed. "I'm sorry. Today was supposed to be our hang-out day. Mammon and Levi should finally be distracted by the new show I introduced them to." Tired violet eyes stared quietly back at you. You knew he wasn't actually mad at you, but he still wouldn't be happy until your both blanket wrapped burritos.
"Just let me change and then we can cuddle for the rest of the night okay?" He lets out another huff, however, he doesn't voice any further complaints.
Once you were changed and completely ready to get down and snuggly. Belphegor wasted zero seconds, all but yanking you into bed. Assuming the usual position; arms curled around your waist and face buried in the open space of your neck. Giggling, you wrap your arms around his back. One hand resting below his shoulder, the other rubbing soothing circles into his back.
However, he was uncharacteristically quiet tonight. His breath fanned over your neck every time he sighed through his nose. "Belphie? ....Is everything okay?" You waited patiently as he thought over his response.
"I…." He pauses for another moment before picking up again "I'm jealous of my brothers."
"What? Why??"
"Because even though I'm here now, and things are better than they were…. They've gotten to spend so much more time with you." Your hand moves from his back to brush through his hair. "I just feel like I've missed out on so much. They all care so deeply for you. Even Lucifer." You can't help but chuckle at the way he says that. "Sometimes it feels like I can't catch up…"
"There's no need to catch up Belphie. I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere. Especially if you keep your death grip on me like that." Laughing harder as he gives you a tighter squeeze. "I care about all of you so much. But if it helps…. I can try and ditch Mammon more often so we can have more cuddle sessions."
You can feel the way his lips twitch into a smile at your words. "I'd like that a lot." Placing a kiss on the crown of his head before hugging him tighter, letting your eyes flutter closed.
It's quiet for a long while, you're on the verge of falling asleep when you hear him call your name. "Hmm?"

“Maaan I’m beat. Then again didn’t expect to ‘ave special treatment on my birthday. It’s like the villains knew it was a special day and wanted to mess with me.” You looked up at your boyfriend and giggled, patting his hand as he pouted to himself.
“It’s not all bad, Kirishima and Tamaki got you a gift and even offered to take over for you. You’re the one who declined them and said that it couldn’t be that bad today.” He sighed and facepalmed.
“Yea I guess, I kinda jinxed myself there, heh. Though you're right in the sense that it ain’t all bad. I’m glad to call those two friends now. I remember when they were still doing work-study for me, that was such a crazy time.”
You smiled at his reminiscing and pushed back a strand of your hair. He always worked so hard, and even with all the tough work today, he was still able to brush it off and be relaxed with you. You hoped the “present” you prepared at home is holding up well. You kinda left it in a precarious position.
He seemed to have noticed you spacing out and tapped you on the shoulder, snapping you out of your mind’s worries.
“You're spacin’ out, you that tired too?” He tilted his head a bit and was quick to get the keys to your shared apartment just in case you were really tired and about to collapse. However, you just patted him and chuckled.
“I’m fine Taishi, here let me open the door.” You took the keys from him gingerly and he looked super confused as you stifled your laughter. Unlocking the door, you took his hand and gave him a big smile.
“I think you’ll like what I have prepared for you.”
He blinks. “Wait, you got me something? Hun, ya really didn’t need to, your company is gift enough.”
You felt your heart squeeze at that but proceeded on with leading him into the apartment after shutting the door. Making him close his eyes, you lead him to the kitchen. You hoped everything was still standing, or you’d have a big mess on your hands.
After making sure everything was still in one piece, you moved in front of your creation and told him to open his eyes. As he did, his face went from shock to wonder as he saw the present laid before him.
“Woah! Is that a Takoyaki tower! God, there’s so many.”
He was practically drooling and you walked over to the fridge to get out a cake as well, it was bigger than a normal birthday cake of course. Big food for your 8’2 boyfriend, that you love with all your heart. Setting the cake down, you didn’t even notice him coming behind you and scooping you up in his arms.
“Oh!”
“This is the best birthday ever! Not only do I have a love to share it with, but that same love made me a tower of my favorite food! Have I ever told you how much I love ya.”
You laughed as he pecked your face with kisses. “All the time, Taishi, hehe. Happy birthday, babe.”
Whoa what this? Two updates in one month? I know crazy right.

Watching the sunset always left you feeling warm yet empty inside. The sky bleeds reds, orange’s, and pinks. Fleeting yet, oh so captivating. Another sigh leaves you. How long had it been since you’d last seen him? Weeks, months? It feels as though it had been an eternity.
“You’re still here?”
Your breath hitched, instantly turning to face your computer. “Sad?” It took a second before you realized this wasn’t a dream. He was back! Racing towards him you slid to a stop, gripping your desk tightly. “You’re back!” Your heart fluttered as he gave you a soft smile.
“I promised I would. I just didn’t….” He trailed off, the never-ending tears falling from his hidden eyes. “I just didn’t think you’d still be waiting for me.”
“Of course I would! I promised you I’d always be here waiting.” Pressing a hand to the screen, you could feel tears forming in your own eyes. “I’d wait forever just to see you.”
“You shouldn’t.”
“But I will.” He let out a long breath. However, he also raised a hand to rest against where your hand caressed the glass. “No matter how impossible you think it is, I love you Sad.”
“I…” His breath hitched, somehow seeming to cry harder. “I can’t stay. I have to go back, they need me.” He’d already begun fading before he’d finished his sentence. “I’ll… I’ll come back.”
It felt as if strings were tugging harshly at your heart. “You promise?”
“I promise.”
“Then it’s a date.” He had already faded before you’d finished your sentence.

“Tenyaaaa~ Darling wake up.” You lovingly tried to shake your boyfriend awake. Eventually, he turned over to you, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. You lean back on the bed as he slowly sits up, gazing at you with groggy happiness.
“Good morning my dear. I’m surprised you're still in bed with me, last year you woke up extra early just to get a birthday meal ready.” He chuckles slightly and quietly thanks you as you pass him his glasses. Placing them on, he watches fondly as you tilt your head and smile softly.
“I have to change it up, can’t make your special day boring! Besides, I have some special plans that I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy.” Clapping your hands together and then hopping off the bed. He follows suit, standing up stretching out his long limbs.
“Well, I can’t wait to see what’s in store. Let’s just hope it’s not too chaotic today in the hero sense of things.” Patting your head and kissing your cheek, he heads off to get ready for the day, as do you.

After a nice quiet breakfast together, and informing him of your plans, you head out on the date that you’d set up.
“I have a lot for us to do today, and a special surprise later~” You tugged on his blazer, bringing him closer to place a long kiss on his cheek, your tone shift causing him to blush. He smooths himself out as you let him go and scolds you a bit.
“My star, please, not with so many people around.” You just giggle and check your phone, making sure that the plan was in motion.
Just as he was gonna peek at what you were doing, you turned on your heel and intertwined his hand with yours. “Come on hun, the tea shop I made reservations for is just down here!”
You practically dragged him there, internally signed in relief. You didn’t want him to catch onto your surprise. Hopefully, everyone wasn’t having too much trouble. Everything is set on your end, let’s just hope they planned well too.
The tea shop was fairly small, though it was pleasant and smelled like an exquisite tea garden. Both of you took in the smell, letting out pleased sighs at the same time, causing you both to look at each other and let out a shy laugh. After informing the hostess about your reservation, she led you to a very secluded booth in the back. Fortunately, this shop was pretty new so you don’t have to worry about getting recognized, and with this table belong placed in the back. Iida seemed to be taking it all in as you ordered for both of you. As soon as the waiter left he turned his full attention back to you whilst grasping your hands as they resting on the table.
“This was a very nice pick my Star, I really have to pay you back after today. I honestly feel a bit spoiled right now.” He scratched his cheek and flashed you a shy smile. God, he was so cute. You just brushed it off and returned the smile.
“Oh please, it’s your birthday I have to spoil you at least for today, cause usually you always spoil me.” He grasps your hands tighter and stares you straight in the eyes this time, catching you a bit off guard.
“I love you, and as much as I wasn’t used to this whole dating thing, to begin with, I’d like to think that now I’m good at channeling my feelings into something. That something is just treating you how I feel you deserve.” He was so sincere with his words you pulled your hands back from his and covered your face, feeling it heat up. He slightly freaked out and quickly raised his hands in their signature chopping style.
“M-My Star, I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean to embarrass you like that I-” You cut him off, one hand held up whilst you peeked at him from behind your other hand. You had a big dumb smile on your face and your eyes were a bit watery.
“I love you too Tenya. You really gotta warn me there with your sincerity though. I almost cried.”
You both laughed and he grasped your hand again. You enjoyed the rest of your tea date together. Both letting each other talk about nonsense. Iida telling you what gifts his friends had got for him ahead of time. You smiled as you checked the time on your phone, noticing it's getting even closer. You put some cash down, including a tip, distracting Iida from his sentence as he looked at you confused.
“Come on dear, it’s time for your special present.” You winked and urged him to get up, which he did. He was about to speak up again but you quickly shushed him with your finger.
“Don’t question it dear, some things are better when there’s a mystery.”
As you led him back to your house, you had a slight skip in your step. From the text you’d received, everything seemed to have gone smoothly. Now you just need to get there. As you opened the door to your house, you asked Iida to close his eyes. He was confused at first but after some coaxing, he followed your request. You made sure to be verbal with your leading to make sure it’d be timed perfectly. As you made it into the living room you told him to stay as you moved in front of him.
“Okay, Tenya open your eyes!” You splayed your arms out excitedly as he opened his eyes, and what he caught next was enough to make him recoil a bit and blush.
“SURPRISE!” A chorus of his friends and you rung out across the room and they all approached him to wish him happy birthday individually and give him even more presents. He was smiling the whole while and even laughing at the surprise they all gave him. You mentally gave yourself a high-five, and smile at the sight before you. He deserved this and luckily you’ll get to do it all again next year.
