I’ve been bad about updating.
Day 2: January 24
Today is a Friday. Today I consumed the snow beneath my feet as I made my way from my apartment to my internship. I ate a banana, drank a lot of coffee and got on with my work day. I consumed an extremely slow computer, consumed IT help, a new antivirus software, an earlier version of InDesign and Illustrator in an attempt to speed things up (which ended up consuming a massive amount of time) and took a break for lunch. Lunch was exactly the same as day 1: carrots and cucumbers with hummus, an apple, chicken with rice and veggies, Babybel cheese, pretzels and pistachios. I consume time on Sundays dedicated to meal prep for the week. My husband and I cook large batches together to last us the week in an effort to eat nutritiously and balanced.
After lunch, I consumed more time waiting for my computer to load. I consumed that as well. I consumed edits and content creation, emails and phone calls, texts and an Instagram post of my dog. In the waiting, I listened to a Dateline NBC podcast, an NPR News Now podcast and a Wall Street Journal podcast. I l drank lots of water, and drank coffee to warm up.
After work, I consumed more snow. I collected lots of it on the bottom of my shoes, and some slush and salt residue along with it. I took my dog for a long walk. She rolled in the snow. I collected some laughs. I consumed some time. It was worth it.
We went to the Gopher men’s hockey game. I consumed time, and popcorn, and a little bit of my husband’s pretzel. We share and ice cream. My stomach was full, and happy.
What I’m Not Consuming: Alcohol (day 49), phone use before bed
Day 1: January 23
Today is a Thursday.
Food: oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries, a banana, carrots and cucumbers with hummus, Babybel cheese, an apple, chicken with rice and veggies, pretzels, pistachios, a black bean burger with tomatoes and pickles and a side of oven roasted vegetables. Oofta.
Drink: coffee, water, more coffee, more coffee.
Activity: workout at my apartment gym, Metro green line travel to and from campus, bus travel, 3 classes, an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, about 30 pages of a book called A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, taking my dog for a walk, texting in 3 different group chats, texting my husband, a phone call with my dad.
Today I am collecting lists. A list of the things I’ve consumed. I’ve left out so many things: the bed I slept on, the chairs I sat in, my cat and dog I pet endlessly because they’re extremely needy. I find it a little bit overwhelming the idea of trying to capture all of it and remember it. We are constantly consuming and constantly collecting. I appreciate the analysis portion of this, however. It forces me to look at how I’m using my time and what I’m dedicating it to, how I use/abuse my body and what I’m feeding it for food, drink, stimulation, etc.
What I’m Not Consuming Today: alcohol (day 48 of a 100 day challenge I’ve given myself)

I told my 9yr old cousin that we weren't watching TV until we read a book.
moral of the story: she's curled up next to me in bed reading 💕
What does life mean to me?
I think life is meant to be enjoyed. I am not like other students, who believe that life is meant to be full of partying and drinking. I like to believe that life can be enjoyed with good friends and even better food. <3 Every once in a while and good adventure to soothe the soul.
What are some things I have accomplished in my life thus far?
1. I believe that a big accomplishment that I have been able to have this far in life, is that I was able to go to college. I grew up in a family where it was not a usual thing to continue after high school, or to even graduate from high school.
2. being able to let shift go. I have become one of those people who will not hold a grudge, and decides to let stuff go almost instantly.
3.deciding on my major, I came into college as an undeclared student not sure what I wanted to do with my life. However, it was definitely an accomplishment once I decided I wanted to teach English.
4. letting go of my ex.
favorite thing to do when you're alone?
When I am alone, I guess my favorite thing to do is procrastinate on my homework. However, that is what every college student can say. Maybe I could say that I surf the internet for different things, but this is just another form of procrastination. I also like to dance around in close to nude, while listening to country music.
