30 Day RP Challenge: Day 29

29) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne? 

Charlotte doesn’t usually wear perfume or cologne, although she does appreciate it on other people. She's rubbed magazine samples on her pulse points before a date or night out, but that’s about the extent of it.

Before the bombs dropped, she smelled of lavender soap, deodorant, and hair oil.

In the Wasteland, she smells of gunpowder, sweat, and wood smoke.

27.) Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them. 

I picked two songs for the in-between times for Charlotte, times when she’s struggling to find her place and her purpose. She doesn’t enjoy being a kite without a string, a ship without an anchor. Aimlessness does not suit her.

X-Ray Spex - I Can’t Do Anything

Post-high school, pre-Navy Charlotte: full of uncertainty, frustration, and shouting.

30 Day RP Challenge: Day 19

19) What’s your character’s preferred means of travel?

Charlotte feels at home on and in the water, and if she can get anywhere by boat, it’s a good place to be. That being said, it’s still not her absolute favorite way to get around.

Her favorite way to get around is on roller skates. 

She was a demon on them when she was a kid, and even up into her teens. For a few months there were constant fights about whether she could sleep with her skates on. Her mom eventually relented and the skates stayed on. 

Charlotte was a roller derby girl (otherwise known as ”Mary Queen of Knocks”) for a bit before she joined up with the Navy. Those were fun times.

30 Day RP Challenge: Day 17

17) What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy? AND/OR What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep? 

When Charlotte has a desk or workspace, it’s very orderly. If she can keep her personal space orderly, she does. She’ll even take to organizing communal spaces if she gets a hair up her ass about it. Her locker at Railroad HQ is neatly organized. They’re old habits drilled into her that she’s never lost.

She generally sleeps on her stomach, hoarding as many blankets as she can. She often wakes up with the pillow on the floor and her face smashed directly into the mattress (or sleeping on her hand). While she was pregnant with Shaun, it was hell learning to sleep on her left side. She wanted to roll over onto her stomach so often. After one grumpy night of almost no sleep, Nate cut a hole out of one of their backyard deck chairs so Charlotte could lay belly down and enjoy the fresh air. She took quite a few naps out in the late-summer sun in the backyard.

30 Day RP Challenge: Day 7

7) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?

Junior year in high school she turned a classmate in for cheating on a test. Charlotte knew it was the right thing to do, because cheating is wrong and standing up to cheaters is right, because that’s what she was taught. 

Her classmate ended up being expelled because this wasn’t the first time they’d cheated.

Word got around school that they were kicked out of their house and ended up trying to hitchhike to the west coast and died in some kind of car wreck somewhere along the way.

Looking back, she wishes she’d kept her mouth shut and let the kid cheat. She knows she couldn’t have predicted what happened, but It was just a stupid fucking geography test, it wasn’t worth doing the “right thing” for.
