#30daysofaugust n°1.

working on my term paper for about 2 hours in the morning: ✓ emailled my professor about the question I have about the dataset I use ✓ got into logistic regression again after one solid week of not thinking about it at all

[not as good as I thought it would be but I am really struggeling with some coding here and there and as long as I have not fixed it, I cannot move on with the analysis]

in the afternoon, another one or two hours of working on it, managed to go over other uncertain parts.

#30daysofaugust REVIEW

The 30 days are over. And I am very sorry I have not posted throughout the past days - I was super busy with writing the exams. Now I am on holidays with my boyfriend and finally have the time to take a look back on this crazy busy august.

The exams went well. I have a 2.0 on the one on the 30th, but no results yet for the big one on the 28th. But I have to say that I think it went really well. Even though I struggled with a few questions, overall I was well prepared.

What I learnt? You can do a LOT in 30 days. I even had quite a bit of freetime in the last days before the exam because I had made sure I had already prepared enough before. 

So.. monday 4th, the new semester (the 5th!!) will start again already. I will have some amazing seminars and lectures and I am determined to be as good as possible. I just looked at my current average grade which is probably something around 1.9 - 2.0. Which is satisfying and very well considering the first semesters that did not go that good. But I want to be better and I know I can be better so I am trying to make sure I’ll be consistent with all the work.

you know the days where you realise that you just won’t be able to concentrate all day and quit your study session right away?

It was one of those. But it’s alright, I already feel quite prepared.

I was very very unmotivated when I came home from by boyfriends’s place today. But hey! I managed to study for about two hours (or more? I don’t know) for my linguistics exam. As you can see, I decided to be outside because it was warm and nice outside.

I did not accomplish a lot today. The only thing I did yesterday was to study for like half an hour with my boyfriend who asked me my quizlet-questions and today I was too tired to study more than an effective hour or two. 

8 days until the big exam. I’ll need to focus.

a lot of comparative politics today; i got stuck in Laver and Shepsle’s “Portfolio Allocation Model” but now it’s evening and I’m through the lecture notes about it and the article so I’ll enjoy the rest with salad + pizza + Sex & the City!

We all know these days when studying isn’t all easy and pretty. I’ve had two of those, I had to force myself to do half an hour and then reward myself. And the breaks I did got longer and longer. But I managed to do about 2 to 3 hours of intense studying (ok maybe 2). And it’s okay because maybe I did not spend a lot but I made sure I was concentrating and was learning well.

Tips I’ve heard about before but now really know why they are important: - change the setting - keep hydrated - get enough sleep - don’t only scratch the surface of what you’re leaning, make sure you really understand it all.
