undated. fall semester sophomore year. outdoor polisci reading from my drafts. that's tea, i think.
how do you spell political science abbreviated??
polysci
poly sci
polisci
poli sci
If university wasnt so expensive id go and get a bunch of degrees just 4 the fun of learning
my (two) friends have tomodachi life and they both created a mii of me
originally it started out as a joke to see how I would act as a polisci lad and if I should get a copy of the game for my writing ocs to interact like how friend one has their game set up and to spur some writing inspo and uhhhhhh
they’ve been giving me updates on what my mii has been doing on their islands and so far I’ve:
been the cause of four separate fights with miis im friends with, including friend one’s brother
haven’t attempted forgiveness even when given a “getting over urself” book
fallen in love with friend two
bonded over and became friends with friend two over connor storrie’s ass on their island
bonded over and became friends with friend two over beautiful and hot women on friend one’s island
bonded over and became friends with friend one’s miis thru terrorism, hardcore smut, dead queen elizabeth, the bible, Latter Day Saints, scamming old ppl, among other things
I’m hedging my bets that my mii will start another fight and stage a coup

getting into the groove of school again, especially with readings. i’ve gone almost three years skimping on them, but i’m finally in a course that forces me to do them… oops
Question for the Political Science Side of Tumblr:
I've heard that there's a pretty big difference between the way most Americans use terms like "leftist," "liberal," and "progressive" compared to the rest of the world. Specifically, that Americans tend to use them interchangably (especially the first two) to mean anything that is left of center of the American Overton window, which is already pretty right of the rest of the world. So an American would probably lump "neoliberals, "liberals," "progressives," "leftists," and really anyone who is not conservative by American standards under the umbrella of "leftist" or "liberal."
From my own cursory research into the subject (via Internet search, my academic wheelhouse is anthropology not polisci) and my own anecdotal experience of hearing how people in my life have used the terms, this does seem to be the case.
My question then is "Is there a better umbrella term that Americans could use to convey the same meaning of "anyone left of center of our Overton window" instead of co-opting an existing term with a more specific meaning? And if there's not an existing term with the same meaning, what would you suggest to fill the role?
(I'm not being facetious or sea lioning or asking in bad faith, I promise. And I promise I did try to figure this out on my own but the sources I've found either seem unreliable, contradict each other, are too jargon heavy for my current level of understanding, or just say that this is an issue without offering an alternative. I'm genuinely very confused but want to use precise language whenever possible).
