Silence overcame Sherry as she processed Jake’s words. It was well deserved but she couldn’t help but frown. She didn’t like the fact that he was thanking her when he was the one who saved the world.
“Jake... I should be thanking you.” Her voice died out at the end before she softly cleared her throat. “Not only did you save me multiple times but you saved the world... and you stuck beside me. Thank you.”
A small hand reached out and slowly snuck its way into his larger hand. The gesture was gentle but as hesitant as Sherry was, she knew Jake was someone she could be comfortable with.
“I will do everything I can to be able to see you regularly.”
