ONE — FIRST OFF, WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD.
I grew up in Melbourne, Australia — Kensington area if that means anytihng to anybody. It was alright. Lived with both my parents till I was 14, then my mum moved all the way to Perth and it was just me, my dad, and my brother Matt. Don’t speak that much with either of them nowadays, but used to be pretty close with my brother then. Played Jurassic Park out in the garden and all that, I was always a raptor, and he was Dr. Grant.
I was quite good in school, I reckon. Got good grades and stayed out of trouble for the most part. Everybody was expecting me to be a doctor or something, but apparently screwed that expectation up when I started getting the tats. Guess ink makes you incompetent. Not too bothered, though; I never wanted to be a doctor anyway.
TWO — WHY DID YOU WANT TO COME LIVE AND WORK AT THE MALNATI? WHAT DREW YOU IN?
Well, after I quit modelling I didn’t really know what to do with my time. Had some business ventures but nothing took off, then this dude I knew from the biz told me about this place. I figured, yeah, sounded like a good deal so I decided to give it a go, and here we are. No special reason behind it all unless you believe in fate, but it’s the nicest place I’ve lived in a good while.
THREE — WAS YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS SUPPORTIVE OF YOUR DECISION TO COME WORK AT THE MALNATI AND JOIN THEIR HOUSING PROGRAM?
My mate Mog kicked up a bit of a fuss about me abandoning New York, but I desperately needed a change of scenery. I think she’s calmed down about it now, so it’s all good.
I haven’t discussed it that much with my family. My mum thinks I’m too far away and don’t visit often enough, but I guess that’s just how mums work. Dad isn’t too bothered about whether I’m in Chicago or Milan so long as I’m living and breathing.
FOUR — HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT HAVING TO SHARE A SUITE? DO YOU GET ALONG WITH THE OTHER RESIDENTS?
I’ve had to share a two bedroom flat with five other guys before, so this is pure luxury. My suite mates are nice, I guess, though I haven’t seen too much of them.
FIVE — WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE AS A KID OR WHAT JOB DID YOU PICTURE YOURSELF DOING?
I definitely wanted to be an archaeologist until I realized that it wasn’t all that the Indiana Jones movies cracked it up to be. Also wanted to be an astronaut for a bit, or a race car driver, but that clearly didn’t pan out for little Marshall either.
My mates and I also shot a few atrocious home movies in year 6 and really thought we were the next Spielbergs and DiCaprios... spoiler alert, we weren’t.
SIX — WHAT IS ONE THING THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU THAT YOU WOULD PROBABLY NEVER WANT THEM TO KNOW?
Not getting me that easily.
SEVEN — IF YOU WEREN’T WORKING AT THE MALNATI, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’D BE DOING RIGHT NOW?
Uhhh, don’t know. Probably just running around New York somewhere, watching a fuckton of movies and writing in coffee shops... so basically the same thing as here. Maybe I’d be back in Australia for a little while. I didn’t really have anything lined up, to be honest.
EIGHT — IF THIS DOESN’T WORK OUT FOR YOU, WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DECIDING TO DO? THINK OF THE BIGGER PICTURE OR MAYBE YOUR 5 YEAR PLAN.
Well, the current plan is to crash here while I figure out what the actual plan is. No offense to the place, but I’m not exactly aspiring to be in the hotel fitness industry for life. Just trying to work towards my goals without blowing through all my savings in the process... but guess the five year plan hopefully ends with me having a decent enough platform that people want to read what I have to say. Oh, and finally getting my own place and a dog.
NINE — IF YOU COULD ONLY PICK ONE, JUST ONE, WHICH WOULD YOU PICK? BEING RICH BUT HAVING FEW FRIENDS OR STRUGGLING BUT HAVING PEOPLE WHO LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU?
I mean, bit of a logical issue here, yeah? Surely my friends would love and support me or they’d be rubbish, so even just having a few would be something. Might as well have some money too, no need to be fake humble about that.
TEN — LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB AND WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PART?
I won’t lie, I’m really enjoying not having to clean my own flat all the time. If it has to be about the actual work specifically then... pretty neat that I’m actually getting paid to help people do something good for themselves. But I’m not a huge fan of the ‘Gram girls who just come in to look hot and crack onto the trainers. Gets on my nerves.
ONE — FIRST OFF, WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD.
I was born in Miami and we lived there until I was 7 but my mom travels all over for work, so we were usually only at our house a couple of days a week. Then we started splitting time between Bel Air and Carnegie Hill, so I mostly remember those places. Less gators and hurricanes, so can’t complain. We still own the Florida house, though, it’s pretty dope.
My sister Cecily looked after me a lot when I was little and my parents were out at events a lot sans kids, but then she went off to college and I spent a lot of time with the nannies. I still call them to catch up sometimes, they’re lovely.
TWO — WHY DID YOU WANT TO COME LIVE AND WORK AT THE MALNATI? WHAT DREW YOU IN?
Marshall told me the place was both hella lit and haunted. Turns out he was basically lying about the ghosts, but verdict’s still open on the first count. Better be lit or I’m out.
THREE — WAS YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS SUPPORTIVE OF YOUR DECISION TO COME WORK AT THE MALNATI AND JOIN THEIR HOUSING PROGRAM?
My mom thinks I’m crazy and is very concerned about the whole thing, but my dad thinks it’s healthy to go live and work with like, normal people for a while. Cecily laughed on the phone when I told her, so yeah… don’t really know what category that falls into. At least they haven’t disowned me yet?
FOUR — HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT HAVING TO SHARE A SUITE? DO YOU GET ALONG WITH THE OTHER RESIDENTS?
Not gonna lie, it’s weird not to have my own space. So far it’s better than my experiences with college roommates, though, so I guess I’ll live. Chloe’s pretty cool.
FIVE — WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE AS A KID OR WHAT JOB DID YOU PICTURE YOURSELF DOING?
My best friend’s dad owns a restaurant and we used to sneak into the kitchen all the time when we were little. I for sure wanted to be in that business when I was a kid, but I haven’t really got to that point just yet. I think I’m over it, seems stressful.
I also wanted to be a music producer like my grandpa for a while, not even that long ago. I think that’s still on the table as a possibility. He let me push the buttons and play with those slider thingies sometimes when we visited him at the studio, so you could pretty much say I’m a progedy.
SIX — WHAT IS ONE THING THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU THAT YOU WOULD PROBABLY NEVER WANT THEM TO KNOW?
I hooked up with one of the One Direction dudes but I’m not gonna say which one.
SEVEN — IF YOU WEREN’T WORKING AT THE MALNATI, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’D BE DOING RIGHT NOW?
Probably trying to drag my pathetic ass back to Columbia and finish my degree, but we all know that ain’t gonna happen anytime soon. Sooo, I don’t know. Sleep in at the Plaza.
EIGHT — IF THIS DOESN’T WORK OUT FOR YOU, WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DECIDING TO DO? THINK OF THE BIGGER PICTURE OR MAYBE YOUR 5 YEAR PLAN.
Hopefully actually finishing college, I hate that I have this unfinished business there. Doesn’t sit well with me. Then probably going to work for my mom and uncle, or my grandpa. Maybe I’ll do a movie or a ghost hunting show, the world is full of possibilities. Isn’t that fun?
NINE — IF YOU COULD ONLY PICK ONE, JUST ONE, WHICH WOULD YOU PICK? BEING RICH BUT HAVING FEW FRIENDS OR STRUGGLING BUT HAVING PEOPLE WHO LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU?
Probably the latter… don’t really want to get into it.
TEN — LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB AND WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PART?
Getting to express myself as just Morrigan is pretty neat, not gonna lie. Usually when I do stuff my name is followed by like, “Brighton Innocent’s daughter” when anyone talks about it. It’s cool and I love my mom and shit, but you know… I like to think that I progressed at least a little bit beyond being a fertilized egg.
My least favorite is having people request songs. Like no Debra, I’m not gonna singBarbie Girl just because it’s your bachelorette weekend. Fuck all the way off.
ONE — FIRST OFF, WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD.
”Well, I grew up here - in Chicago. I was born here, too. I guess I’m a city girl at heart. As for my childhood - it was um, lonely, I guess? I’m an only child and it’s always been me and my Mom. I don’t have any sort of relationship with my Dad. It was never easy making friends in school either.”
TWO — WHY DID YOU WANT TO COME LIVE AND WORK AT THE MALNATI? WHAT DREW YOU IN?
“I’ve always lived with my Mom and then I went off to college. I didn’t want to move back in her with after college. I wanted to do something fun and when I heard about the position I thought it would be perfect. I love yoga, so to be an instructor and also live in this beautiful hotel? That’s a dream come true. I also feel like I needed to get out of my comfort zone. College was definitely out of my comfort zone but this is even further out there - so I think it’s good for me.”
THREE — WAS YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS SUPPORTIVE OF YOUR DECISION TO COME WORK AT THE MALNATI AND JOIN THEIR HOUSING PROGRAM?
“Not really! My Mom wanted me to move back in with her after college. She’s lonely, I guess. My friends were supportive, though. They thought it seemed like a cool opportunity.”
FOUR — HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT HAVING TO SHARE A SUITE? DO YOU GET ALONG WITH THE OTHER RESIDENTS? IF YOU LIVE ALONE, WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT BEING IN A SINGLE?
“I don’t love sharing a suite, probably since I’ve always had my own room. But Miguel is awesome so I don’t mind it. I think I’d still prefer a single room, however. That’s not to do with roommates, that’s just the introvert in me.”
FIVE — WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE AS A KID OR WHAT JOB DID YOU PICTURE YOURSELF DOING?
“I honestly don’t have a clue. I think I wanted to be a doctor, because I had a doctor Barbie. But I’m not sure that would be a good fit for me now. It’s weird, my Mom has never really had a job and she’s content with that. I guess I just always thought I’d be the same.”
SIX — WHAT IS ONE THING THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU THAT YOU WOULD PROBABLY NEVER WANT THEM TO KNOW?
“Hm. I don’t know. Next question, please.”
SEVEN — IF YOU WEREN’T WORKING AT THE MALNATI, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’D BE DOING RIGHT NOW?
“I think I’d still be teaching in some way - like yoga classes or pilates or something. I’ve always been the most comfortable when being active. Idle time makes me think too much.”
EIGHT — IF THIS DOESN’T WORK OUT FOR YOU, WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DECIDING TO DO? THINK OF THE BIGGER PICTURE OR MAYBE YOUR 5 YEAR PLAN.
“Well, I hope this works out. If it doesn’t, I’d probably find a job in the city and find an apartment. I want to be on my own. I’d probably try to work at a gym, like I said earlier. Thinking about 5 years from now makes me pretty anxious, I have to admit. I hope I’m in love at that point. I hope I’m with someone and that we’re making a life together in some way.
NINE — IF YOU COULD ONLY PICK ONE, JUST ONE, WHICH WOULD YOU PICK? BEING RICH BUT HAVING FEW FRIENDS OR STRUGGLING BUT HAVING PEOPLE WHO LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU?
“I’ve experienced the first, so let’s try the second now.”
TEN — LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB AND WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PART?
“My favorite part of my job is all the people I have met. My coworkers are great. The least favorite part? Hm. Maybe getting up early for sunrise yoga? But even that isn’t too bad. I don’t mind being up early.”
ONE — FIRST OFF, WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD.
i was born in edinburgh to emma evanstad and richard banks, and emma’s kid william was also there. I ate paste and played wif dolls behind ma mum’s back got in trouble it was kind of repetitive honestly did shit in school cause focusin’ wasn’t a strength, so they sent me to boardin’ school man, in doncaster for year six and i just stayed. Besides summers and two weeks in winter i pretty much lived over there and even then i tried to stay wif my pals as long as their parents would let me before chuckin’ me back to scottland. then when i was in year eleven we moved to the states.
TWO — WHY DID YOU WANT TO COME LIVE AND WORK AT THE MALNATI? WHAT DREW YOU IN?

FOUR — HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT HAVING TO SHARE A SUITE? DO YOU GET ALONG WITH THE OTHER RESIDENTS? IF YOU LIVE ALONE, WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT BEING IN A SINGLE?
i shared a room for most of my life in doncaster so it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. i think i’m a good roomate
FIVE — WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE AS A KID OR WHAT JOB DID YOU PICTURE YOURSELF DOING?
i fink i wanted to be a garbage man to be quite honest ha that or the dude who works in a morgue i was really into zombies

i normally keep the fact that willy is my big brover on the down low but not sure how long i’ll be able to do it wif him livin’ here
SEVEN — IF YOU WEREN’T WORKING AT THE MALNATI, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’D BE DOING RIGHT NOW?
before this i worked at a thrift store so i’d probably be there still and crashin’ on a friends couch four nights of the week
EIGHT — IF THIS DOESN’T WORK OUT FOR YOU, WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DECIDING TO DO? THINK OF THE BIGGER PICTURE OR MAYBE YOUR 5 YEAR PLAN.
i gotta stay workin to pay of ma loans, but an internship for an architecture firm would be ideal man
NINE — IF YOU COULD ONLY PICK ONE, JUST ONE, WHICH WOULD YOU PICK? BEING RICH BUT HAVING FEW FRIENDS OR STRUGGLING BUT HAVING PEOPLE WHO LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU?
i already have few friends so being rich would be nice
TEN — LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB AND WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PART?
favorite, i can sneak naps during slow times and the worst part is the fookin rude ass guests.
TASK NUMBER TWO !! TIS THE SEASON: volunteer work !!
as the malnati prides itself on its contributions to the chicago area, every year they and their staff members participate in their own sort of community outreach program each holiday season to get people out into the city and lending a helping hand to those in need !! this year, management has paired up some of the staff members to go work on a volunteer project of their choosing together !! some options available are: to work at a soup kitchen, a daycare center, after-school program, help teach young students how to ice skate or build snowmen, assist small businesses in decorating store fronts or the town square for the season, run a can drive, go to the local shelter and learn how to knit scarves/hats/gloves for the homeless, go shopping to sponsor a family's christmas, or even visit a nursing home/senior center and make cookies !! but, if you do not see anything on this list that is of interest, the pairs can choose something else so long as they are volunteering and helping those in the community this holiday season !! participation will be awarded in everyone’s end of the year bonus checks - so while management would like everyone to be helping out through the goodness of their hearts, they also recognize the efforts in a big way !!
while completing tasks are always optional, we very much encourage everyone to reach out to their partners and get some volunteering threads going !! you can also tag the tasks with #312tasks so that we can all read up on what everyone chose to do !! below you will find the list of pairs.
