A drabble word - intrigued/intrigue etc
I ended up adding to the word count when I went to edit it! lmao!
“Huh. This is really intriguing.” Al said as he stroked his chin in thought.
“So, did you figure it out?!”
Both brothers stood over the lab bench, examining the mushy handwritten letter that came with the abnormally large bouquet of sunflowers.
“This has been happening all week, and I just want to know who keeps sending these, but I can't figure out who!” Even though Ed was ranting over the letter, his face was bright red. Ed had never been good with emotional stuff.
Al held back his laughter because he was just amazed at how smart yet dumb his brother could be.
“Yeah, I know who it is.”
Ed's face lit up. “That's my baby brother! Who is? How’dya figure it out??”
Al pointed to the letter and slid it under each word as he read.
“My dearest Edward, you are truly a remarkable human being. Every chance I get to spend with you is the highlight of my day. Sunflowers symbolize loyalty and admiration, all things I feel towards you. You surely are a beacon of light during my darkest hours, and it would be my greatest honor if you would allow me to take you out.
Your’s truly,
Your secret Admirer.”
When Al looked up, Ed's face was even redder than before.
“Did you really have to read that again?” Ed grumbled.
“Yeah, because you're an idiot, brother,” Al said gently as his brother gaped. “Look, the 'r' in remarkable; the 'o' in outing and 'y' in your's truly, are all slightly darker than the rest of the letters. What do you think R-O-Y spells, Ed?” Al knew he had a cheeky look on his face, but he couldn't help it. The general was probably tired of Ed missing everything that pointed to him. He even made it surprisingly easier for Ed, and he still missed it.
“Roy…” Ed’s voice was barely above a whisper, and not a second later, he was shredding his lab coat and booking it to the front door.
“Where are you going?” Al called.
“I need to go talk to Mustang.” Al was surprised at how calm Ed sounded.
“Good luck!”
