𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑  +  𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐌𝐃𝐀𝐋𝐋.

some messy notes on Thor and Heimdall .

ONE .    Thor grew up with Heimdall as a constant in his life ,  and so they became super close friends   ------   thor spent a lot of his youth avoiding princely duties and council meetings and instead spending time with Heimdall ,  learning about the universe .   the watchman of the Gods could see and hear everything ,  and that level of power  (  but equally important ,  that level of knowledge  )   was fascinating to Thor .    he always wanted to know the hows and the whys of Heimdall’s way of working ,  and if he had met a particularly interesting individual on his journey through the nine realms ,  he would always pester Heimdall for updates on them lmao .

TWO .     Heimdall can see everyone ,  everything ,  everywhere .      and although everyone is ,  in some capacity ,  connected to Heimdall as a result ,  it’s really only the Æsir   (  and perhaps the Vanir  )   who know how to utilise that ,  and get in touch with him   ---   though even for them ,  it requires a little training . 

THREE .     Heimdall sees souls as pinpricks of light in his vision ,  fireflies in the periphery .   emphasising your spiritual presence means you can brighten your soul to his sight ,  and therefore draw his attention .    the religious people of various worlds do this without realising ,  every time they pray .    also shouting at the sky ,  as Thor so often does ,  also works lmao

FOUR .     the part that’s much ,  much harder to master is  adopting  Heimdall’s vision .  for starters ,  he must grant it to you ,  and must control it within you .    it requires complete and total harmony between two life forces  ---   ie .   Thor’s and Heimdall’s ,  for vision to synchronise in such a way .

FIVE .     it also requires intense energy and concentration ,  Thor’s spent centuries perfecting this skill so he too can ,  if only momentarily ,  see everything Heimdall sees .  

SIX .     it is only momentary because not everyone is equipped to handle that much in their vision   ---   unlike Heimdall ,  others could burn out ,  be rendered unconscious ,  and Heimdall knows this ,  which is why he trained Thor himself but also controls what Thor can see ,  how much he can see .    even after years of practise Thor can only maintain this skill for a minute ,  90 seconds max .   but it’s a start .

SEVEN .     Heimdall’s always been there ,  in Thor’s mind ,  as Thor has been there ,  in Heimdall’s vision .   it’s a perpetual connection ,  a constant in their lives ,  and further strengthens their relationship knowing they’re never really alone .

EIGHT .      it also means that ,  save for family ,  Heimdall is the one Thor trusts the most .   he knows Heimdall has his back ,  and knows that everything he goes through ,  Heimdall may be able to see ,  and endure with him .   he’s also always in his head ,  so there’s that .

NINE .     Thor has frequent conversations with Heimdall after meditation ,  when spiritual dedication makes that connection easier to maintain .

⭐️ :  for Halloween one year ,  they took Daisy trick - or - treating ,  and Eggsy and Sharon dressed up as each other .   Eggsy had a blonde wig and spoke with a terrible accent all night .

⭐️  :  on Fridays ,  after work ,  there is a recently - developed tradition of going to the pub with your Kingsman colleagues .   Eggsy always arrives late ,  because he ends up leaving a lot of work until the last minute ,  but it’s okay bc Sharon always saves a seat and has a jack 'n coke waiting for him .

I find it really interesting that Eggsy cares so much about Charlie's opinion.  even though it's evident they have a volatility from day one , that mellows down a little through the course of their timeline. like when Roxy and Eggsy are the last candidates left , and Eggsy confesses to Harry  :  “   it's like Charlie said. i'm just a pleb   ”  -------------  which would indicate that Eggsy , despite his swagger and carefree bravado , actually cares a heckin' lot what people think of him  --  and more importantly , what  CHARLIE  thinks of him.  and that Charlie's words stick with Eggsy , an echo that keeps bouncing in his mind.

having said that , I don’t think Eggsy and Charlie would ever have anything more than a friendly rivalry.  Eggsy’s done , okay  --   d o n e ,   with men making him feel like shit , with being berated and belittled and diminished like a flame , every time he tries to exist.  he’s dealt with friends using him , a stepfather abusing him , with staying shut up in a closet about his bisexuality because he’s seen the cruelty of narrow-minded men who think they’re better  --  and Charlie’s addition just succeeds in making Eggsy stronger , more resistant , with no potential desire to explore a friendship.  his allegiance to the Kingsman , to his family , and to the very few friends that stuck by him through all this time take precedence over Charlie’s opinions of him in the end.
