CAIN'S POWERS

Since I didn't put them on the carrd so you guys don't get slapped in the face with too much text, let's compile a comprehensible list in shape of a headcanon post.

Demonic Possession: like all demons, he could leave his body and possess another. In all of his time on earth, he never did that and most likely won't do it ever. Because he detests that practice and his own body is practically invincible anyway.

Immunity: he literally can't get sick or affected by any regular weaponry, not even angelic powers faze him. They just rearrange the hair on his head for a second like a soft breeze. Only archangels can truly harm him. Immunity is fundamental to the immortality denying him death. It doesn't mean he can't feel pain.

Invulnerability: you can stab him, it just won't do anything nor leave any scars. This gift involuntarily includes regeneration, which the wiki states as its own power for some reason.

Super Agility / Strength / Senses: something almost all demons have in common. So he'd recognize a demon or angel through their vessel, no bullshitting that dude with masks. He knows you're coming when you're not within sight. In combat or other chaotic situations, he never loses orientation or focus, because it's what he was made for.

Telekinesis: another power most demons share. Self-explanatory.

Teleportation / Apporting: also self-explanatory. He can teleport from one place to another and take others with him, or send them away without joining. As he did when touching Dean and Crowley's shoulders and the next moment they were outside of the house.

Terrakinesis: if he wants to be extra, his arrival might cause earthquakes. He did that during his time surrendering to the mark, because he enjoyed fucking with his targets.

Weather Manipulation: he can also choose to let a wind-blow herald his arrival, or cause a thunderstorm. When in canon, Dean stabbed him with the Blade, a clap of thunder sounded above.

Demonic Smiting: an ability unique to him. While usually smiting is a power reserved for angels, he's the only demon who shares this attribute with them.

Biokinesis: a simple gesture sufficed to make Crowley lose his voice for as long as Cain wanted him to shut up. He also controlled his own blood flow when Dean rammed the knife into his chest, not letting a drop run free. And he doesn't show his white demonic eyes, normally. So, anyway, he can literally control your body if he wants to.

Electrokinesis: at will, he might cause disturbance to electricity. Flickering lights or lights going out, all that neat stuff. But this means he could kickstart a car when its battery died without the use of tools, or shut down your computer from across the table if you don't listen to him while he talks to you. The lights might also flicker when he, you know... :)

Power-Negation: not only did he prevent Crowley from teleporting away, he also didn't lose all of his abilities while in the devil's trap. Which usually strips demons of their powers. It also wouldn't hold him for long. So if you're a supernatural being, he can make your powers just not work around him. But where's the fun in that?

Master Hand-To-Hand-Combat: naturally, he's an extraordinarily skilled fighter, being the first knight of hell to train an entire order of knights and with 6000+ years of life experience under his belt.

WEAKNESSES

Witchcraft: to an extent. Rowena's illusion spell successfully tricked him into thinking the boy he was out to kill stood in front of him. Until he went stab-happy and the kid poofed in swathes of purple mist.

Devil's Trap / Demon Cuffs: they might not work for long, but they do work for a while. And most of his powers with exception of telekinesis won't serve him during that time. So make sure to cuff him, then he can't do anything for like 30 minutes.

Poisons: won't harm him, but he might get stoned or something for some time, maybe even lose focus/orientation.

The Divine: meaning the big guy himself, the devil and other archangels. They can kill him. But since his punishment from above is to live on forever, they won't give him that peace. They can get on his nerves, though, and he can not overpower them.

okay, so i'm not sure if i've actually stated it on the blog, but i know i've spoken to a few people on discord about this but!

much in the same way that @lawscoped can see spirits, dae has an ability of his own, though it's more of a hinderance than anything else and it's most definitely not something he's aware of. the closest thing that i could compare him to is a HOMING BEACON for the supernatural.

we all know this man is an absolute ray of sunshine, but what if that was by design?

his soul, his aura, his very BEING is innately hardwired to draw in the supernatural. and of course, he has no idea because he's not even aware that supernatural beings EXIST until it's too late in his main storyline. for demons, there's something about his soul that's too tempting to resist, like he's the tastiest meal they think they could ever get their hands on. he's pure, untainted, something that could easily be corrupted and there's an appeal to that.

for other supernatural beings, quite often he reminds them of something they've lost. the soft rays on the sun upon skin, a hearth at the center of the home, comfort, belonging, something to protect. i mean, all this to say that he doesn't also have the capability of reminding demons of these things, but i suppose it all depends on the intentions of the supernatural being.

if they have a good heart, dae somehow draws them to him, and it's his personality, his very way of being that keeps them close because of what he represents.

if they have ill intentions? well ... he draws them in all the same, but he is more at risk of something sinister happening because of who he is ━━━ which is why he needs someone to protect him, to ward off anyone that would do him harm.

Resilience/stubbornness in the face of difficult/impossible odds is charming to him in certain contexts. The most obvious example is when, seen through their eyes post-death, the first Corinthian's victims are SO confident that they're going to get away somehow and/or are just generally stubborn and angry until the end rather than fearful. It's a fine line to walk though because it can quickly veer into him thinking they're just kind of stupid/naive, which he doesn't admire LOL.

Another thing he admires, kind of related to this but not entirely, is the drive for personal freedom in certain contexts, particularly escaping from abusive or controlling environments. Examples include: Jed running away from home a lot and using both daydreaming and true dreaming as escapism when that failed him; pretty much everything about Mykonos/why she formed (survivor of domestic violence, coercive work environments, various other things); Gault standing up to Morpheus.... Etc etc. Sometimes it's because he sees himself in them (Jed), but often it's because the things people will DO in those circumstances can be kind of insane. Not even like "oh I killed my abuser to get away" type shit but like... Gestures. People do weird things under stress. Especially if they can't escape that stress.

For the second Corinthian, it's Dream 2.0 - I think he DID want to protect Morpheus to some degree but that's complicated... Whereas Dream 2.0 is more of a blank slate to project that instinct onto. If you wanted to, you could read it as a more general desire to protect the Dreaming itself (and you could connect that to the ways in which Corinth1 did NOT protect the Dreaming; by letting Morpheus become trapped, he let the Dreaming crumble...) but who knows.

For both of them, some other answers in descending order of importance/intensity are: themselves, their secrets, artwork they enjoy looking at (and/or feel represented by), and--very occasionally--small or lost children. That last one is fairly rare/context-dependent though, and it doesn't mean they LIKE the kids. Just that they have a sort of herding dog-esque drive to get them back to wherever they're supposed to be, particularly Corinth2.

I'm loving the idea that Babel gets really good at doing makeup in their vtm verse. It’s fun, yeah, but they started out of practicality (red eyeliner because they still cry easily, as well as looking more human and masc when they want to), but also they have so much time, and their hands don’t shake anymore.

Crocodile, upon seeing S-Croc the first time, is so filled with rage that he sees red. It is a white-hot, burning sort of rage. The sort of rage one might feel when seeing something so wrong that it sends them into justifiable anger. There is something so familiar in that Seraphim. Something in their eyes. Something that Crocodile had long since forgotten until he was forced to see it again.

It was like seeing himself again, exposed once more to the harshness of the world. Another version of himself, with the addition of a scar earned in a moment of defeat, now etched across the face of a child.

Crocodile would burn the world for that child.

MY YELLOWJACKETS SEASON 3 CANON DIVERGENCES

teen timeline

when the girls believe they are going to be rescued and shauna and lottie refuse to leave, taissa does not take their side, instead joining natalie and the majority arguing to leave with the frog scientists. more thoughts on this here. 

taissa still encourages van to rig the cards when it becomes clear there is going to be another hunt, but is not as willing to forget the cost of their survival (looking specifically at the “we survived” / “we ate a fucking kid” interaction). 

in general, while taissa is enjoying the relative freedom she has to pursue her identity and her relationship with van in the wilderness, she is still very focused on getting home, more in line with her s1-2 characterization. any part of her that wants to stay in the wilderness she is trying to repress and keep close to the chest.

adult timeline

taissa does not give up her position as state senator. still believing she can power through this if she refuses to confront the problem, a lot of her arc this season is about trying to hold together the facade of her perfect life with her wife comatose in the hospital.

the main tai/other tai conflict this season is that other tai sees the facade of perfection for what it is, and tries to sabotage it (particularly in the state senate) in hopes of bringing tai back to what had made them happy: the forest, meat, running wild, van.

simone dies in the hospital from her injuries.

taissa is trying to play the grieving widow, the strong mother, and the infallible senator, all while she’s gone back to secretly hooking up with van. The tai/van conflict this season is around van feeling like nothing has changed from their secret hookups when they were kids; she’s still taissa’s dirty little secret, something to be ashamed of. 

(to be changed/plotted as necessary) but the plot around whether van needs to sacrifice people to the wilderness to stave off her cancer is a van plot. I don’t think tai needs to be as involved in it and I don’t even really think she should know about it. I think van would be keeping that to herself.

simone’s parents offer to take sammy for a little while so taissa has time to grieve, so that’s where he is for most of the season.

other tai does not have the degree of control over tai's body that she seemed to have by the end of season 3. this is because i think blaming everything tai does on her shadow self is a really boring way to make sure that none of taissa's decisions matter or can be analyzed.

van doesn't die or to be discussed.

REITERATING THAT IN MY DEFAULT CANON, THE SUPERNATURAL ELEMENTS OF YELLOWJACKETS ARE REAL, OTHER TAI IS A SUPERNATURAL OCCURRENCE / AN EFFECT OF THE WILDERNESS, AND TAISSA IS IN DENIAL ABOUT ALL OF THIS.
