Pedro as a merman who got captured and put in the water tank of a rich businessman as decoration. Not everyone can show off a mythical creature in their house, after all. Enter Marc, who got engaged to take care of the wildlife in the building in full privacy. From the dogs, to the sharks, to the tiger that's somehow in there, to the....strange creature with human feature in the large tank that goes farther than the eyes can see.

He's just there to do his job, but then the merman...watches him when he works. It follows Marc around through the pathways of his enclosure and observes him. It seems intelligent; Marc tilts his head in curiosity, and the Monster mimics him with a smile full of teeth.

It makes him curious, despite everything.

Then, one day, he goes to the top of the tank to drop some food inside, and here is the merman, leaning against the glass border.

Marc doesn't know what overtakes him. "What's your name?"

The creature answers. "Pedro."

It all goes downhill from there, because the monster is actually a he, and he's just as smart as a human being, if not more. He insults Marc like it's the funniest thing in the world and threatens to drag him in the tank when he doesn't like the food. He's...Marc like his company, he realises. In a world of bland politeness and curt greetings, he's missed the intensity like a man starved from it.

But then Marc overhears some of the staff talking about a deal. A deal where Pedro would be sold to the government for research for a good sum of money that the businessman just couldn't reject. It makes Marc go cold.

Because he knows what this means. Pedro's going to die in a lab, dissected and with his eyes glassy. That's how it always goes, anyway. He can't allow that; that's not who he is. He knows Pedro's been missing home; of course he is, he got kidnapped after all, and he wonders if he should do something about it.

He's probably going to get killed if he does, and even if he does manage it, he'll probably never see Pedro again. The merman would leave to the sea and Marc would be earth bound, unable to follow. There's no way someone with Pedro's character would come back for a human.

But it doesn't really matter, does it? Marc's going to get him out of here, to hell with the consequences.

(Also Fermín is from the businessman's family for additional drama)

(And Pedro's the reason Marc's right arm doesn't work anymore. He tried to drag Marc underwater to save him from people chasing them and his long claws dug too deep.)

Finally! I talk to him for quite some time until I had him where I wanted him, occationally dropping a test, a "lift your foot" or similar without any effect. He was a hard nut.

But when I snapped my finger eventually, having his eyes drift into that sweet, blissfull emptiness, the gratification was even more intense...
