Okay, this work isn't based on any fan fic or inspired by any fan fic out there.

Panic flowering a very informal usage in horticulture. When a tree trunk is cut down or suffers severe damage, it senses a survival crisis, disrupts its hormonal balance, and initiates an "emergency reproduction" mode, which is flowering.
