@mirainagasu performing her #3axel in #teamevent at @pyeongchang2018 #PyeongChang2018 Funny only japanese and descendents ladies had performed this absolutely difficult jumps at olympic games so far 💪👏💪👏 Regranned from @heavydiscussion - “We were 7 and 10 years old, and remember sitting on the floor in our living room, listening to the Olympic fanfare, watching skating, and wanting to be like Michelle Kwan,” the U.S. ice dancers have said. They weren’t alone: An estimated 177 million people in the U.S. total watched those games according to the International Olympic Committee, and U.S. figure skaters Mirai Nagasu, Madison Chock, and Karen Chen — all of whom plan to compete at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, along with the Shibutanis — cite Kwan as a childhood inspiration. • While U.S. Figure Skating does not currently collect data on skater ethnicity, there has been a visible rise in Asian-American representation in the sport since the days Kwan and Kristi Yamaguchi, who took home Olympic gold in 1992, broke barriers on the ice. • Only two other U.S. female figure skaters have pulled off a triple axel in competition: First was Tonya Harding, during the national championship in 1991, followed by Kimmie Meissner in 2005.” #mirainagasu #teamusa - #regrann

Miu smiled down at the small glass bowl filled with kakigori. Strawberry-flavored, her favorite. The treat was fashioned into a cute bear, complete with a nose and eyes and sliced strawberries for the ears. She took in the adorable sight with pure elation, not wasting an opportunity to snap a few pictures before actually taking a bite. It tasted sweeter than she’d imagined, eliciting an “mmm~” to escape her lip before diving back in for another taste. In between mouthfuls, she turned her sweet gaze to her companion. “So what did you get?” she asked in a gentle, lilting voice, her warm smile unwavering.
