Spamton and Monty were long time business partners before Spam was able to march his way into TV time for them. (The involvement of the phone would be the cause of opening rifts in their relationship.) Monty is an Addison based on rules and warning signs, so naturally safety is a major concern of his. This makes him instinctually over protective of his partners as well. The two of them would frequent territory that Spamton was allowed to work freely, but I imagine they ran into Ad-Block darkners that beat their asses some nights. Monty's always been a faithful partner across the board whether it was business between friends or clients. Rules and regulations are important to him so he's mostly brutally honest, but he gets his job done and he does it well. Some times darkners gave Monty more leverage than Spamton, which he took advantage of many times to save Spam from getting in more trouble. Spamton was just an AD trying to make it big and Monty understood the hustle of it all due to his own struggle with it. He'd always stick his neck out for Spamton, even in the worst situations he would do what he could to defend him or make up excuses for him despite it going against his own code. (Something Monty never found himself doing for an individual before, so he thought Spamton's presence in his life was special for making him act out in such a way. A major reason he stayed with Spam.)
