a magic square depicted as some sort of '3D- distribution plot'

I played around with a simple magic square and the Lo-shu-technique - and I recognized a simple pattern:

- The average value of this magic square is at the center [5]

- The sum of each row and column and diagonal is 15 - 3 times the 'average' in this case.

There also appear 'symmetries' - see the violet writing: 4 [1 less than 5] and 6 [1 more than 5] - as well as the other colors: blue [ 3 [2 less than 5] and 7 [2more than 5]... etc...

somehow this rather unconventional and dreamy mind wandering led me to drawing this tiny 3D plot...

I am not finished. It's a rough sketch/doodle...It may have errors as well.

I might go into detail at explaining how I find the 3d coordinate points via my pen and paper and imagination method. This is a bit tricky. I will explain it once my focus and ability to form coherent thoughts and sentences is better again.

A messily drawn triquetra-like manifold

How it started:

I randomly scribbled some (2D) triquetras to depict some concepts for another project I am working on:

[Just ignore the written stuff in the photo.] I actually drew it as 2D. Yet I imagined this/a similar thing as 3D:

This was the result:

I attempted to depict the 2D projections of that 3D plotted manifold as well.

Drawing this manifold has helped me to gain new insights into how I could draw calabi-yau manifolds.

Math that is art, and art that is math

For me, drawing 3D plots has something really calming. Although the results have uncountable imperfections, the insight-gaining effect of drawing such illustrations is the most satisfying of all aspects. Makes one see the ratios and connections of the depicted plot's underlying patterns from a different perspective.
