Ok so:

There is a postdoc position at a really dope university that is doing EXACTLY what I’m good at

There is no deadline to apply

I have approx 9 months left on my contract at my current position

Which like

Idk if that nice position can wait that long

Idk if I would even get it

If I leave my postdoc early, what happens to my career in the long run?

So now my goal is:

Just bust my ass and finish the work I want to do within 9 months, and try to get out?

Which SUCKS! Bc there is so much research in this lab to be done that is up my alley and no one else is interested in. And this is the “lose your job and die” economy so I can’t play around with this or say anything to anyone.

Like dude. Why can’t the lab just be… better. Even my boss waves me off. I can’t believe I’ve done all this work and people take my results, give me attitude, etc.

I learned a new 3D printer today! And it was my first time printing with a bioink

The blue ink is printing into the yellow gelatin bc the gelatin holds up the soft print (so it doesn’t collapse on itself)

It’s hard to see, but the blue ghost looking tree is a coronary artery

I did another 8 hour straight day of stem cells. Like where did the time go

today was so crazy. But I kinda dug it? It was so busy that time just FLEW.

I think I should make dough tonight though, maybe bake some and vacuum seal to bring to my mom for late Mother’s Day. Where is the motivation??? Not here!

So I felt bad that the basement doorknob kept banging against my neighbor’s door, and I thought huh I wonder if I can print about it?

Made this door blocker!

It can be flipped down to prevent the door from being able to open to the point of banging into her door, or you can put it up in case you still need the full range.

There are some bugs. I thought the PLA filament would be more compliant to shove the hinges in, but I had to file down with my nail file lol. It’s a little crooked as a result, but still works all the same. Also, I was worried that the 15% infill wouldn’t be enough to make it robust. Turns out it may be enough. Need to go home and slap adhesive on the back (prob similar to the ones the wall hangers use) and give it a spin

Sincerely looked at it and thought ‘oh I killed it. That looks like an actual dead jellyfish.’

And people in lab swarmed over and went OMG this looks great!!!! Really nice job! Wow! That’s it!

It’s a tricuspid heart valve printed in alginate bioink :)

Redoing a whole experiment. This time scaling up just a bit to make my working volumes more workable.

I don’t think I’ve sat down once since I got in at 9 like I have to wash slurry then print then I made a stock solution then I needed to do absorbance of the stock solution to determine concentration THEN I figure out how much to add to my experiment

Now I wait 3 hours, then we centrifuge for an hour after like bro.

Oh and I need to just keep my prints going 🙃
