HE  WASN'T  ISLAMOPHOBIC  -  HE JUST REALLY HATED MUSLIMS

North Carolina: bible belt, re-constructionist, confederate flag waving, antebellum slave state, with literally millions and millions and millions of white "Christian" families

Corporate Media: the shootings had nothing whatsoever to do with racism or Islamophobia. This was not a hate crime. It was a "parking dispute"...the AngryWhiteMaleShooter™ hated all religions **equally**…he, um, was “mentally disturbed” and, uh, he just **coincidentally** happened to target the one religious group that makes up only a tiny fraction of all North Carolinians

Only the most aggressively and willfully ignorant of people could reconcile these factors with no cognitive dissonance 

But somehow journalists have already skipped the self-serving, impossibly high standard of having to “prove what’s in someone’s heart” and have gone straight to the standard white disclaimer of “mental illness”

This is yet another example of just how far society (via the police and their frequent accomplice, corporate media) will go to comfort white people with the ahistoric lullaby of white innocence™. Mentally disturbed? Yeah, sure. They’ll gladly cop to that. But racism or Islamophobia? Oh nooo, not a heavily armed & angry white male in 2015 America. Nah...that’s just too incredible to believe

But you better believe that the police & corporate media won't miss a beat to label an unarmed black murder victim "no angel" or "thug" or label a Muslim a terrorist...because ingrained racism is the flip side to the "mentally disturbed, but definitely not racist white people" meme

Three people who happen to be muslims get shot dead in america and suddenly every second post on my feed its related to how 'muslims are soo oppressed and they're all peaceful and Islam is the religion of peace' ect. Why arnt those posts about the daily atrocities and oppression carried out by Muslims? People seem so involved in trying to make distinctions between moderate muslims and extremists that they're forgetting that there are thousands of people around the world are being killed and mauled my muslims for religiously motivated means. People who write about the oppressed in the west are forgetting who the real oppressed are.
