NORI ROYALE in "Top Down" Music Video (2025)
Okay so I just watched Building The Band. And yes, I went into it a little biased about Midnight Til Morning, HOWEVER.
Most everyone who got into a band sounded similar and just seemed to do vocal runs the whole time in every freaking song, except MTM and 3quency. 3quency did a lot of runs but they actually made the effort to blend and perform the songs, not just doing runs the whole damn time.
But then MTM came in and immediately built off each other's energy while simultaneously created the smoothest harmonies I have ever heard from the 4 most different genre'd voices ever. Mason, with his indie pop vibe, Zach with his country rasp, Conor with a rich, raw tone that is the love child of Bruce Springsteen and Harry Styles' voices, and Shane with the lightest, most soulful R&B voice that is somehow also reminiscent of those higher classic rock voices(Axl Rose, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, the dude from Scorpions, etc) that I have ever heard in my life. And their energy in that first performance was unmatched. They were all smiles and talent and they sounded amazing. And they only throw in runs to ACCENT the beauty of the song being told in their voices. They were trying to work TOGETHER to make the magic.
I heard a lot of I, I, I, me, me, me from the other bands. "I don't want to do this song" "I want us to dress this way" "Why don't I get to solo in this song?" BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A SOLO PROJECT. The coaches and judges literally kept saying that too and some of them were really not giving a shit.
Most of the singers, upon first hearing them, sounded like people who just wanted their diva moments. The guys from MTM, Wennely, Thomas, and Landon were really the only ones who seemed like they wanted a group. They were there for the music and the experience, not themselves.
And Shane was there to save his family home too and the judges knew that and still did what they did. Liam was the only one who seemed to genuinely be rooting for them, God rest his beautiful soul.
Also why tf did they tell them to engage with the audience more and then make them stay on pedestals AWAY from the audience for their next performance. Someone even said that was a bad idea. They got seriously fucked over for that performance because they were so happy and engaging the best they could from where they were at and Nicole just went ehhhhh. Like WHAT??
And yes, I acknowledge that Conor fucked up with Alison and I genuinely don't know why he liked her because she was the most selfish and mean person on the show and he's the sweetest lil emo bean, aside from his comment about how Soulidified was doing the same old 90s boyband thing, which came off a little more arrogant and rude than he meant it to probably. He looked TERRIFIED right before he said that, so I think he just blurted that out in fear, rather than for a mean reason. But at least he apologized and made the effort to fix it and work with the band to be better together. And the way they chose to not only forgive him, but also pretty much beg him to stay, like I feel like none of the other bands would have cared enough to do that.
But MTM did. And not even for themselves. I'm pretty sure they were gonna give up the prize money and give it to Shane's parents so they didn't lose their house. They not only wanted to save Conor from himself, but they wanted to help Shane's family because they already loved each other THAT much.
But even though the judges said that love and trust is the most important thing, it wasn't enough for them. Even after they came back from that incident and found who they wanted to be and absolutely fucking brought the house down with that performance of The Reason by Hoobastank. Only to be given a song that wasn't really right for them for the show and prevented from doing what their coaches literally said to do for their last performance.
Make it make sense.
It all just felt so weird and unfair. But joke's on Nicole, because they did what Liam said and got signed and are touring and killing it.

Building The Band finale reaction
Building the Band season 1 is over.
I love this show! The format of the show is so different. Contestants create and assemble their own band members from listening to them sing and chatting with them only.
I learned it's very crucial to ask the right questions. Can they dance? What's their pet peeves? What music do they like to sing or listen to the most? and etc..
Out of all the bands that were formed, my favorite was the boy band - Iconyx aka Soulidified.
Somehow, I just connected with them. I don't know what it was about them, but they were my favorite.
Shade is amazing dancer! Liam told him he is a star. He has star qualities for sure. He connects well with the audience, can dance, looks nice, and can sing.
Malik, Landon and Bradley are all great singers and look good together. Malik's voice is probably my favorite out of this group. The Tevin Campbell song really show casted his vocals really well. They came in 3rd place, kind of shocked but I really believe in them and hope their journey continues. Liam did mention that his group also placed 3rd in their competition. Something to be noted for sure!
3Quencey, the 3-member girl group, really improved the most. In the end, they sounded the best and had the best choreography out of all the bands. I really enjoyed them a lot. I believe they will become very successful in the music industry. Hope they continue to make music together. They could be the next 'Destiny's Child'. I mean they did win and the judges were blown away at their performances.
SZN4 was really amazing. They seemed to be the most favored via online social media. Fans really wanted to see this mixed group win. It was the range of sound in this group for me. Every single band member had a different sound and they blended well together. They didn't have what many would think of as a 'normal music band' "look." But they were a powerhouse group. I'll keep my eye out for this group. Just curious to see what happens next for them. They did come in 2nd place, and that says a lot.
My final thoughts - there should be a 2nd season. I wish the winners were given some kind of deal and $$ winnings, especially since they had to form a band not knowing what the other person looks like. Love the format of the show. And there were some very good singers in this competition. And they also brought the drama, of'course!!!
