Character sheets for 3rd Generation AU
If you're unaware of what that is, you can get the basic gist of it here.
Reblogs appreciated. And so are asks.
Questions for the 3rd Generation AU: 1. What archetype would you say each new member fits? 2. In what order did the original cast abstract? 3. Just how crazy is Pomni? (Looking forward to learning more!)
If poor Jax was still us with (she's not, thank god), she'd put each new member into the following archetypes. Stockling: The curious one Gritee: The serious one Gluppy: The stupid one (or chill one if she wasn't feeling mean) Marrom: The nice one Ori: The anxious one (Or just, 'The anxious wreck') (NEW) Pomni: The scary one (I'm not joking) When the character cards release all of these will make sense.
Jax -> Zooble -> Gangle -> Kinger -> Ragatha But don't get it twisted, it was almost a back to back thing. All of them going in the span of like, two months. Gangle abstracted as soon as she found out Zooble did, and Ragatha gave up the digital ghost only a few days after Kinger did. Which extra sucked for Pomni because one of the last things she said to her was that: "We will get through this. I'll be fine." She blames herself for not realizing she was, in fact, not fine.
Unfortunately, Pomni isn't 'funny crazy' like Kinger was, it's more... 'sad crazy'. She barely moves, she barely talks, and when she does it's a 6 word sentence at most. Her favorite hobby is picking a random member of the new cast, or even just being in front of the door's of one of her Abstracted friends and S T A R E. Worst part. She doesn't have a good memory relating to darkness like Kinger did. So unlike him, she's crazy regardless if it's pitch black, or blindingly bright. Once again; "Pomni goes through the torment nexus"
Thank you for asking ^^
Wow hey Pomni. Who are these new new quirky folks you're hanging out with?
...Pomni?
....Pomni you good?
Hey i absolutely love your 3rd generation au and I love all the characters! I was curious what is the meaning behind their avatars? Do they have meaning? I'd love to know!
Thank you for yoyr interest! And yes each of the new members' avatars was deliberately thought out to match their backstories.
Gritee was a serious, no-nonsense detective. But wasn't much cared or known for anything besides that. So his avatar stripped him of everything besides the bare necessary for that. Aka. Detective uniform, eyes, and hands.
Stockling wanted to help people, but was forced to work under a greedy, uncaring corporation. Really being a middlewoman to the company who already decided who lives and who dies. She felt like a sock puppet, being forced to repeat all their corporate nonsense.
Gluppy never strived for much. Her life was without purpose, without structure. So his avatar is without structure. Being made of clay and can be easily changed to whatever it them or anyone else wants them to be.
Marrom was manipulated into helping a for profit organization masking as a guiding light. They were tricked and manipulated, being a puppet on strings. Plus, said strings literally go up to the sky, no one knows where it stops (think Doug Dimadomes' Hat), like they're being controlled by a higher power.
Finally Ori. She's an origami bird, which while can be a beautiful form of self expression. Needs to be dealt with absolute precision and perfection, since paper is fragile and rips easily, which can be quite nerve wrenching to anyone trying to pick up on the hobby.
Hope that explains it! I'm quite happy with these designs and explanations of them, because in all honesty, I felt the show had a big missed opportunity with the characters avatars. Cuz even if I like them, it was clear the designs came first and the backstories second. Cuz genuinely, gun to my head. I would not be able to explain how Failed YTber Accountant = Jester or Mormon = Frog.
If I may ask. How do you think Peri (kid or teen) would fare in the 3rd generation AU? Assuming she doesn't immediately fold and bluescreens at her mama going to the cellar and her mom now being as maternal as a kitchen counter
Ooh! I love this question! I was recently thinking about how Peri might react to every carnie abstracting. If we go by the abstraction order you gave for your AU:
Jax: Peri is shocked, since that's the first abstraction she ever witnesses, but there has been too much bad blood between her and Jax for her to truly mourn. Teen!P might even try to convince herself it was inevitable/for the best.
Zooble: this is where things start to fall apart. I imagine Zooble's arc with Peri as the polar opposite of Jax's, from wanting as little to do with the little mutant as possible to becoming a third parent of sort in her eyes. Seeing them go would be nothing short of devastating, and while she still has her moms, no one would be able to fill the Zoob-shaped hole in her heart.
Gangle: if her abstraction is back-to-back with Zooble's, then that's fate being extremely cruel to Peri's little heart. I think Teen!P might live it even worse, having grown extremely protective of Gangle.
Kinger: even if she wasn't as close with him as she was with Zooble or Gangle, Peri hurts deeply, not just because that's one more family member in the cellar, but because she knows how much he meant to Ragatha. At that point, it's just her and her mothers, but they're never leaving her side, right?
Ragatha: you guessed right. Seeing her mommy abstract completely shatters Peri's mind. Even if Pomni was lucid enough to comfort her, there'd be no putting the pieces back together. In fact, her mother's unresponsive state is what causes Peri to give up all hope and blue screen in the same day.
Teen!Peri sticks around a little longer, but that's only because the whole injustice causes her to snap and anger keeps her blood pumping. For days, she goes around kicking and throwing objets, rambles at the door icons of the ones she lost, growing resentful of them for "leaving" her, and randomly screams into the void. She tries to shake Pomni out of her trance, getting more desperate and hysterical, until she decides she is tired of it all. That's when she drags herself to Ragatha's room to embrace the blue screen.
So yeah, she's probably never meeting Gritee or the others in that AU. Sorry!
