"The people aren't buying enough!!! HOW do we get them to buy more??? What do we teach our salespeople to say??? What more can they do???" You could start by paying them more. Advocate for people to be paid more in general, maybe. You see, the thing about buying stuff is that you need to first Have Money to do that.
The idea of working five days a week with two day weekends and a few weeks of holiday each year has become ingrained in society. But it wasn't always the case, and it won't be in the future. Could people eventually take three and even four day weekends? Certainly. Will job-sharing increase? I think so. People will need to be paid the same or even more for working less time, so they can afford more leisure time. That's going to be a difficult balancing act to get right, but it can be done. If it works for individuals and works for businesses, everyone would want to spend more time with their loved ones, more time exploring their passions, more time seeing the world outside of an office and more time getting healthy and fit.

I keep going through this moral dilemma about whether I'm a bad person for not having patience with every customer who snaps at me over genuinely scummy policies, or if the customers are bad people for taking out their anger on workers with no control over how the company is run. But at the end of the day, it's the people designing the worst business practices possible to scrape as much money from their customers pockets who are in the wrong.
Which is awesome, since we can easily change that by petitioning to get a watered-down version of the change we want on the bill, and if it has enough funding and advertisements, and if everyone is educated enough to understand it, and if voting is accessible to enough people, and it passes, we can hope that the president is too busy committing other crimes against humanity to say, "Nuh uh, I don't like that law, and I'm the king, so we're not doing it." And then hope our local legislation actually makes that change instead of saying they totally will later if we just let them have ONE more term, for real this time!! Awesome. I love #america /sarcasm
genuinely, the best possible accommodation for me, as a person with multiple disabilities (and probably countless other people with and without disabilities) is the least likely to be considered reasonable by 99% of employers.

i can get just as much done in ~30 hours as I can in 40. i hurt way less if I'm not chained to a desk as long. this can be a 6x5 or an 8x4. or some other unique, flexible schedule.
but instead of that, I have to choose between spending weekday evenings in bed - killing my social life - or being unable to get a job relevant to my degrees at all. in america, this also compels me to choose between having health insurance, but no time to go to the doctor, or time, but no insurance and laughably insufficient money to do so.

Abstract
Time spent on the job is a fundamental aspect of working conditions that influences many facets of individuals’ lives. Here we study how an organization-wide 4-day workweek intervention—with no reduction in pay—affects workers’ well-being. Organizations undergo pre-trial work reorganization to improve efficiency and collaboration, followed by a 6-month trial. Analysis of pre- and post-trial data from 2,896 employees across 141 organizations in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA shows improvements in burnout, job satisfaction, mental health and physical health—a pattern not observed in 12 control companies. Both company-level and individual-level reductions in hours are correlated with well-being gains, with larger individual-level (but not company-level) reductions associated with greater improvements in well-being. Three key factors mediate the relationship: improved self-reported work ability, reduced sleep problems and decreased fatigue. The results indicate that income-preserving 4-day workweeks are an effective organizational intervention for enhancing workers’ well-being.
