Imagine a ModernAU where Thorin is the CEO of the tech company you work for

*while you are blissfully unaware*

You: *meets Thorin in a coffee shop and starts to talk him up*

Thorin: *happy he gets to leave with your number and his coffee*

*a week later after setting up a date with Thorin*

You: *sees Thorin in the meeting room across the room from your office* what the fuck is he doing here?

Bofur: who? Do you see someone you think should not be in the building?*leans to look out the window in front of your desk*

You: yeah, that guy at the head of the table in conference room Zelda.

Bofur: ...(y/n)...that is the founder and CEO of this company, his name is Thorin Oakenshield.

You:Oh fuck this isn't happening! *feels dizzy so you put your head between your knees*

Bofur: what's wrong?

You: I flirted with him in a coffee shop a week ago, I gave him my phone number. We're having a date tonight!

Bofur: it's not that bad, he hasn't seen you.

You: *looks up at Thorin to see him staring at you, and you jerk back and crawl under your desk*

Thorin: *sees you staring at him through the window with an expression of absolute horror, and is highly amused, so he grabs his phone and starts texting you*

Bofur: (y/n), your phone is buzzing.*holds it where you can reach*

You: *grabs the phone and reads the message*

Bofur: what does he say?

You: I think everything will work out just fine.

Bofur: good, he doesn't shut up about you during family dinners and boys night, I wouldn't want to see him mope around because of my best friend.

You: what?

Bofur: ooh I forgot to mention, I'm Thorin's distant cousin, and our family is very tight knit. You're one of the only employees that isn't related to Thorin in any way.

You: well that explains a lot, why the fuck didn't anyone tell me...wait if you knew he was talking about me why didn't you tell him I'm your desk mate?

Bofur: this way was more fun, and more entertaining. Plus the rest of the family and I had bets on how long it'd take and how it'd work out, ye see.

This cleanse will be a permenant one.

I won’t delete our pictures.

It’ll help me be more preoccupied in my life rather than what could’ve been.

But i was happy for you.

I just would rather not be around it or see it myself. Be happy , but away from me please.
