“If I really care, I'll try like 400 times. But once I'm done, it's over.”
After seeing so many posts about it, it was time to try it out myself as well! If you are not familiar with it, it originated in South Korea, where coffee is served in this light and fluffy texture. It is also called the 400 times coffee, as you need to whisk it about 400 times by hand to achieve this texture. Of course, you can also do it by a mixer.
The ingredients you need are simple. Coffee powder, sugar and water. I used the cookie dough flavored instant coffee from Beanies, which I highly recommend! Once you brew it, you can immediately smell a scent of cooke dough! I opted whisking it by hand!
For the amount of ingredient needed, the ratio of coffee powder, sugar and water should be 1:1:1, so if you are putting 1 teaspoon of coffee powder in, you should also put in 1 teaspoon of sugar and hot water. Once you mixed everything together, you simply have to whisk it. The more you whisk it, the lighter the color will get.
This is what it will look like. It thickens as well as you whisk and bubbles up a bit. Once you’re done, you can assemble it! First pour in some milk of your choice in to a cup and top it with the coffee mixture. As the coffee mixture is thick, it will float on top of the milk.
Taste test! I really enjoy it! I first tasted the coffee bit by itself and it is quite strong as there is only a small amount of water. I also liked the light and fluffy texture, similar to the cheese foam that you will get at bubble tea shop! I will certainly be making it again soon.
