Day 1 of prepping for Mr. & Ms. Natural Minnesota, which will be held on May 22-23, 2020. Competing in a show like this has been on my to-do list since I was a kid. I caught a glimpse of my first show on TV around 12 years old. It’s always sparked an interest since, and after seeing a live competition in Dallas this past summer, I decided to go for it within my year of being 40 (celebrated this past September). # After primarily only practicing (and teaching) yoga for the last few years, without much time in the gym in the few years prior thanks to popping out babies, 2 for my family and 1 for another as a gestational carrier (surrogate), I am basically starting from scratch. BUT, I assembled the best support team!! I have an old friend/former competitor and current personal trainer lined up as newbie coach, a new trainer at my gym (pictured-Alex at Total Fitness in Shawano, WI), my IDLife supplements consultant and his colleague who competes using the products, and an incredible massage therapist at my gym. I will be incorporating FasciaBlasting as part of my regimen, and of course YOGA! LOTS and LOTS of YOGA!! # Today I spent a ton of time re-learning My Fitness Pal and how to use it to track my macros and stay within range per meal. I had a great first session with my trainer, Alex. I’m using up (slightly expired) protein powder until my good stuff arrives. Choking my shake down reminded me why I didn’t finish that crap in the first place 😂. Squeezed in a little yoga while my son had speech in the “Mind Body” room at the school. Finished the day with my before bed meal while taking a sits bath. It wasn’t easy eating so much today after employing intermittent fasting, though I did splurge over the holidays, so it wasn’t THAT hard 🤣 # I’ll blog/vlog about my journey primarily on Instagram if anyone cares to read up.
