"It doesn't matter how many times you go through the Bible. It matters how many times the Bible goes through YOU."
While it is good to have a goal to reach, as in "I'm going to read a few chapters of X by X day", if you aren't getting anything out of it that you can meditate on and apply it to your life then what's the point? In Psalms 1: 1-2, It is written, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night."
Take delight in reading the word of God, Beloved. Do not treat it as a chore to just get it out of the way. Find joy in meditating on God's word because it is God's love letter to YOU. If you are currently discouraged because you want to get closer to God but keep feeling that something is hindering you from taking the next step of digging into a deeper relationship with God then here is a prayer for you:
Heavenly Father, I pray that you create a fire of passion in my heart that burns eagerly for you. I don't want this small light anymore. I want to feel the fullness of life in you, Lord. I pray that you cast out whatever is keeping me from moving toward you, Lord. I pray for strength to just put my trust in you and give my life to you so that you may work through me. Amen.
