WEEK 2!!! Blog for speech.

Hi!!! My name is Lena, my first name is Cecilia but I don’t go by that I go by my middle name. I want to talk about my life in this blog, even thought nothing is that interesting or perfect but whose life is really perfect? I go to a Christian school, I go to church and I am living with my mom, step dad, and my little brother. Yes that may seem like wow she sounds like she has a pretty well put together life. In all honesty it isn’t perfect I make mistakes, I have a broken home. I am not emotionally stable at all when it comes to anything. I try to put my life in Gods hands but somehow always fall apart again and again. Like I said I’m not perfect no one is and that’s ok. Even though I might not have all the materialistic things those things don’t matter at the end of the day. Yes I have a “blended” family so people call it and it’s not easy having a family like that. You run into a lot of problems and have a lot of disagreements and it doesn’t always workout that well. So I do try and learn from those mistakes and fix them. I am not a straight A student even though I wish I was. But on another subject, I do not like the color pink. I strongly dislike that color. My favorite color is blue. I am not a girly girl but some people may think I am. I love going to church and volunteering with babies because that’s my favorite thing to do out of everything I’ve tried. I love spending time with my friends and my favorite people. Which that only consist of 3 to 4 people. I keep my circle very small. I decided that this year I will have a change of heart and try to fight no one and be involved in anyone’s dumb drama! I am definitely not a people person. Everyone thinks I’m mean for some weird reason but I promise I’m nice. Sometimes. I love going to school believe it or not I’d rather be at school then at home. I do love to do my makeup well not a full face of it because a lot of makeup is just nasty. Also this year I have been talking virtual school classes so I can catch up on my credits to be a senior so wish me luck! But I loved sharing on this blog thing it was fun till next week guys!

Drablet Series:  Guess it, Pick next - “Scrambled Eggs”

This one is from/for @missmil and it has taken me way too long.  432 words.  First one to correctly identify will hear from me (probably tomorrow) about choosing the next one I write. 

My hand rests gently over my belly, and it’s the most natural feeling in the world.  There is a fluttering inside, after having identified it for the first time today I notice it constantly now.

I don’t need to roll to my right to know that he’s there too.  My rock. The man who has finally gotten through to me and made me accept that he won’t be leaving.

Despite a long day, his rhythmic breathing and the lulling movement from within, I know I won’t be persuaded to sleep anytime soon.  And I’ve never been one for tossing and turning.  So I kiss him on the cheek, and then I leave.

To be perfectly honest, I’m surprised that anyone is in the mess hall at this hour, let alone the woman I find in the dim light of the corner table.  

“Ensign Wildman,” I say, both as a question and a realization.  She closes her book and regards me with that genuine, pure and wonderfully mother-like smile she has perfected through the years.

“B’Elanna,” she says. It sounds just a bit odd because she has always called me ‘Lieutenant.’

“I don’t know that I have ever seen you here this late at night,” I say.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been here this late,” she replies, pulling out a chair for me to join her.

“Everything alright?” I ask, not quite sure of what to make of this encounter.

“Oh, sure.  I’m fine.  How are you doing?”

I shrug and instinctively put my hand over my stomach.  “I’m…. we’re doing alright.”

“I’m glad to hear that,” she replies.  “So, what are you craving?”

“I beg your pardon?”

“You’re here to eat something and get some air, right?  For me, it was always scrambled eggs.  God, I couldn’t get enough of them.”

“I’m actually not very hungry,” I say, looking down at the table.

“Ah, I remember those nights too.”

“Ensign,” I begin.

“Samantha,” she corrects.

“Samantha.  Are you here because of me?”

She smiles.  “I had a feeling you’d be by.  And that you might need a friend.”

“You’re really an amazing woman, you know that?” I blurt out.  It’s an odd thing for me to say, but it’s true.  I’ve been admiring her quiet strength for years, never really understanding it because my own has been so loud and brutal.

She blushes and shrugs and slides me a glass of water.  I take a sip, then I lean back in my chair.  

“Scrambled eggs, huh?”

She laughs.  “Scrambled eggs.  And God help me, I’ll never eat them again.”

My first stucky and my first 1k1h [only 432 words, but better than nothing]! Actually, this is just the intro. Don’t expect quick updates, because between Uni and personal stuff I don’t have much time, and unfortunately I write slowly. I have already done a little bit more, but not in the 1k1h session, so I’ll post it when that part is complete as well. Thank you to faeriermaid that beta’d this <3

There was a lovely coffée shop near Steve’s new apartment. 

He’d discovered it during one of his wandering around the neighborhood, attracted by the solid appearance the whole structure had and the fact that everything seemed to be made of wood and occasionally metal; steel cups and cutlery, simple and nice, and polished tables and chairs, colored in different shades of brown. There was always soft music in the background, jazz mostly, or old 40’s songs; sometimes Steve was surprised by more modern successes, some rock and pop, completely out of the blue but still strangely fitting. It wasn’t a pretentious place by any means, not even in an alternative way; it was quite minimal and small, with big windows and comfortable yet hard seats, and almost all the clients were regulars - and Steve knew it, because he had become one of them. He loved the simplicity of it, this small coffée shop in the suburbs, warmed by wood and refreshed by steel. Really, the only extravagance could be found in the food: every pastry and drink had a peculiar, imaginary name. Surprisingly, Steve found it more cute than annoying. And they were cheap, so he couldn’t nor wanted to complain.

He usually went during the weekend, bringing his laptop and books and spending the day studying and drawing, and sometimes simply relaxing in the company of Natasha or Sam. He had tried to take Tony as well, but, as expected, Tony had found it quite boring, though he had admitted he liked the design somehow. Today he was alone, his basic graphic tablet and scratch pad tucked inside his bag. It was sunny and cold outside, and he had thought about jogging that morning, but he had a drawing to finish or his commissioner wouldn’t be happy. He pushed the door and went in, stopping to clean the soles of his shoes on the dark mat, and then looked around to see if there were any empty tables. It wasn’t usually a problem, and luckily today wasn’t any different: there was one near the window, his favourite place - the light was surprisingly good there.    He hurried to the counter, though he wasn’t in any real danger that his table would have been taken by someone else. He glanced at the waiter, expecting to find one of the two he got to know during the last months, but he had to do a double take: there was a young man behind the counter, hair bound in a high tail, with an handsome face and only one arm. Steve slowed down.

End of Camp NaNoWriMo

Well, it's been a good month.  I didn't post nearly every day, as I'd hoped, but I posted far more often than I'd feared, which is good.  I also passed all of my exams, which is more than my wife had feared, when she heard I was doing this in the same month.

I didn't make it to 50,000 words, but I didn't really expect to.  I've done NaNoWriMo before, and I know what it takes to write that many words in a month, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to set aside that much time this month.  Also, I knew that coming up with new topics to write about so regularly would be hard, and that there might be some days where I had time to write but no topics.  It happened a few times.  But it was good practice for the next time I do NaNoWriMo, and hopefully it will lead to me being more consistent on this (or another) blog.

Which brings up another point.  Part of the idea of doing this particular was to really get to know tumblr and understand how it works.  I didn't get to try out all of the different types of posts, the way I was hoping to, but that's partly because I don't see the point of, for example, making a picture post when that means that I can't put in a proper title and the caption I put for the photo doesn't show up on the site at all.  Or of doing a "chat" post, when again, there doesn't seem to be any way to add, for example, stage directions or such.  It's just very odd.  In all, I believe I may well move back to a more standard blog type, as I've done in the past.  If I do, I will be sure to post a link here, so that people can see it, and I may even cross post a few times so that anyone who has been following me here isn't left in the lurch.  But all in all, I'm not convinced that tumblr has what I want.

That being said, I will no doubt be back here come November, if only to bounce around ideas for the book that I will be writing then.  I still don't have a topic.  If anyone out there who is reading this has any ideas of what to write, would you mind sharing?  I would be ever so grateful if you did.  If you have an idea, please answer this post.
