Today went very well. Puppy and his new family hit it off right away. He has to stay with me for the time being but I'm definitely feeling better about his future 💔❤️

44 weeks: newest skill, waving!
A series of unfortunate events led to me passing out briefly after my bath last night. It takes a lot to get me to that point and it’s much harder to recover afterwards, but Mandana was a rockstar.
She alerted me as soon as it happened, but instead of just accepting her treats and being dismissed she stayed around and tried to help. It’s pretty normal for her to try to alert a second time after she gets her reward but then usually she’ll stop when I ask her to. Not this time.
At first she was next to my bed licking my hand and arm. Then she jumped on my bed (careful not to step on me) and started alerting on my whole body. She has never done this before. She has a very strong nose boop alert and was doing it on every body part like it was acupressure (and it did help so I didn’t stop her)
Usually when we cuddle in bed she stays towards the end of my bed and lays against my legs, but whenever I’m at my worst she always crawls up to the top and lays with my head against her back. She doesn’t rest either, she has her head up keeping watch.
I love my girl so much. I haven’t trained her to do most of these behaviors and she’s only been practicing medical alert for a month. I got really lucky she does all this naturally. I could have got a dog that gets nervous and hyped up, barks, runs around or even just ignores me when I’m having problems. Instead, I got a friend who stays by my side and tries to help me in every way she can think of.
I’m so grateful.
Puppy saw his first lizard 🦎 today and just wanted to chase it. Lmao
Found a new spot for our freedom walk. Decided to soak up some sun before the rain takes over the rest of the week.
Having a slow morning together. She’s still being gentle with me after last night and it’s much appreciated.
We went to a new park to celebrate our combined birthdays (end of February/beginning of March). Mandana got to walk along a river for the first time, see her first train and explore a park with a lot of activity going on around her. We had a lot of fun and now we’re ready for a nap.
I put an unsalted french fry in her treat ball and she proceeded to fold her bed into a ramp to try to shake the fry loose!
I’m intimidated by her ingenuity 😂
