Rodger Collins - Foxy Girls in Oakland "Thick pretty legs in Oakland" and the part where he shouts "Doooooolemite!"
Rufus Jagneaux never fit well within the confines of could be described as distinctively Cajun; whereas their subject matter reflected articles of Cajun lifestyle, their sound was far more influenced by the British invasion bands and American rock acts than, say, the old-timey valses of Nathan Abshire or the throaty croon of Warren Storm.
"Port Barre," the B-side to the fabulous "Opelousas Sostan" 45 off Jin Records, is perhaps the best example of how Rufus Jagneaux blended an acute understanding of regional interest with a sound more in line with what rock would become.
