Super pumped to be finally starting my Z project after what feels like an eternity since buying the thing down in TN after the Skyline was stolen. Genuinely don’t have a direction I wanna go. But I have many options. Option one is just to get it running, get it drivable, and just play around on the track with it. Not street legal, just a race/drift car. The timing tensioner is junk, and has thrown the timing off since before I even picked it up. $120 eBay timing kit will tell me if I kissed any valves. Otherwise... That brings me to my second option. Tear out the VQ for overhaul. But if I’m building a VQ, I’m doin it right. So it’ll take time. LUCKILY, I have a VH lying around that just wants to turn this little missile into a 450Z. I’ll need to machine the bellhousing to the tranny quite a bit to accept the V8 that was only offered in automatic. The third option is assuming either engine works, and I have some time before drift season starts, to pretty it up. Give it proper body panels. Actually make it communicate to pass an OBD test. That way, I not only have a sweet toy to play with, but a toy I can DRIVE to said events. So who knows where I’m gunna go from here. Just excited to have actually started something I said I was going to do a long time ago.
