Our Pi Day 5K ended up more of an 8K. And now for some real pie. Any suggestions? #piday #45by45 #mydayinla #myla

I was inspired yesterday at the Run for Her by all of the people running in memory of someone they loved. I began to feel like a bit of an interloper, just popping into these races because they fit my schedule, whether I fully grasped the cause or not. And then I remembered that I do have a cause. There's a cause that I'm running all 45 of these races for. It's for my family. I am running for my life. And my life is my family.
So I made a shirt for my team to remind myself, even as I have fun, there is a greater purpose to each and every step I take. I must become more healthy so that I have a better chance of being around for them.
What's 45 by 45?
Turning 45 right now is beyond comprehension. But it’s only a little more than three years away.
It’s funny how time passes so quickly when you start to sit on your ass. So one of my besties proposed we don’t run away from the reality of aging. Instead, we should run toward it with a goal in mind: Complete 45 races by our 45th birthdays.
It’s a daunting prospect, but we are already off and running. And once it’s on social media, it’s real.
So here we go.
My first run is this coming weekend.
