Keeping the record straight. Lin-Manuel Miranda you still can turn this around. Difficult conversations are uncomfortable but necessary for healing and growth. Saying you’re sad to not be able to use the UPR theatre is problematic, because it erases the fact that your pro-stance for PROMESA is now helping dismantle that same university and its theater with it. It says that you are above all the students and faculty there. We know, we know, sigh, this is not your intent, but this IS your impact. When having to decide your actions between intent vs impact, always use the “what impact will this have?” as your guide, otherwise you will only make things worst. Education and guidance is needed in your camp to see beyond what some want to label as a publicity stunt. Yes, we know, sigh, the show will go on, but your legacy and many other important things, hang in the balance. This is not about a proud family moment between you and your dad, I mean, of course when you are both in your home it is, but with your platform is so much more and it transcends you and him. This will never be forgotten in the minds of the Puerto Rican people, and you must right this wrong! And this is not about changing the venue, is about the way you’re going about it and about where the blame is being placed. Lastly, this is about you not using your platform to speak out against PROMESA, and following/supporting the groups that are working to combat the damage is creating. #educationandguidance #proPR #4645boricuas https://www.instagram.com/p/BrxPIqeDO81/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fn667873mxur
