31 days of Horror - Anthology List: Day 22 - 4bia (2008)

It's been a hot minute since i've watched this one I wont lie, so i am a little fuzzy on the last segment. I do remember that this was a stellar anthology. 4bia is a pun on phobia and though i am not sure about Thailand, I do know that 4 is a feared number in several Asian countries and I do love a clever title. Also there are 4 shorts in this flick. Again i like clever titles. Stand out segment for me is probably the first one, Phone. No spoken dialog just a girl alone in her room with her phone texting a stranger because she is lonely with a broken leg. It does wonders for setting up the tension and the twist is a bit fun. If you can find it certainly you should watch.

Movie Rec: Phobia 2

This Thai movie is an anthology of five short horror films, each pertaining to the supernatural in some way. Highly recommended, 10/10. And because it is made up of short films, there’s nothing to miss from the first movie :D

All five stories were very entertaining without being overly scary. I personally enjoyed the first and fifth stories the most, and the fourth one was kind of bland if you ask me, but it was still pretty good.

Novice: After committing a crime, Pey is sent to live with monks by his mother until she can work out the legal troubles. While there, Pey encounters what the locals call the Hungry Ghost.

Ward: After an accident, a biker spends the night at the hospital sharing a room with a man who isn’t quite what he seems.

Backpackers: Two Japanese hitchhikers catch a ride with two men on a truck. After driving for some time, very loud banging could be heard coming from the back of the truck.

Salvage: A woman makes a living selling cars that have been fixed up, many from fatal accidents. Assuring all her customers that her cars are almost brand new finally comes back to haunt her.

In the End: An actress, Kate, falls ill and faints while on set. While the crew considers changing the ending of the movie, she returns and insists upon finishing the film. As the crew readies to do so, a call from the hospital is received saying that Kate had passed away in the hospital.

4BIA is a Horror Anthology. The first segment, "Happiness" is about a lonely girl who corresponded with a stranger over hand phone text messaging and soon discovered something strange about this new stranger that she is attracted to. "Tit For Tat" spun a tale of black magic and vengeance for a school kid that had been bullied by a school gang. "In The Middle" - a group of friends faced one of their worst camping trip after water kayaking accident. The final segment "Last Fright" takes horror to new heights with a psychological thriller that involves a stewardess flying solo in a cabin with a dead body.
