So 4chan did WHAT with your selfies?

You must've been on a deep dive on my blog to find that out. So back in 2014 4chan did this "raid" on Tumblr on July 5th where they spammed gore, beastiality, and child pornography on popular tags. They did more things as well like harassing people in their inboxes, threatening violence, suicide baiting which claimed the life of one user we know of, and much much more. It was edgy and stupid and they do it every year but the number of people doing just gets fewer and fewer and now idk if you could even find them doing it anymore. BUT! One horrible thing they did was taking users' selfies and photoshopping their faces onto images of porn. They didn't really care if the user was a minor or not, and unfortunately I was 14-15 at the time that they did this to me. I cried to my mom about it and she called the police and there was a whole investigation. I never talked about how it affected me outside of my own head. So maybe I'll finally open up about it. I was followed by several people from my school when this happened and I actually got bullied for it. People called me a slut, asked when my next porno would come out, I got harassing anons, and someone even wrote some burn book-esque BS on a bathroom stall about me and the image of it was shared between people on Facebook. I hated it. It got to the point I had to beg my mom to let me transfer to another school. It managed to end there but I had to totally reinvent myself and make new friends somewhere else where I was constantly afraid it would creep back to haunt me. These days I'm cool talking about it but damn it was a lot for a teen to go through and I hope anyone else it happened to is doing well now.

This does still affect me but now it's mostly manifesting as me just never posting my face online anymore. If I do, I edit the pic so it would be such an obvious fake photoshop if it happened again. I have posted maybe one picture of myself on Twitter and it only stayed up for a month, I had an anxiety attack about it.

So there you go.

oh yeah @ people freaking out abt the 4chan raid bs . unless they decided to do another one in 2018, that’s four years old so we probably don’t have anything to worry about

In case you guys haven’t been informed, there is a rumored 4Chan raid on Tumblr like every single year, so just in case, I will be closing all requests. I will still be posting, however! There are over 50 requests in my ask box currently, so I do have a lot of things to finish over the summer.

For every one of my followers, please stay safe! Change your password, and close off submissions and asks. If porn and other triggering topics are posted on my blog, it is not my doing.

Letting y'all know to be careful in the tags rn, there's a bunch of spam in light of the 4chan shit. While most of it seems to just be unfunny and/or bigoted meme spam (with a very prominent focus on transphobia and especially transmisogyny but it's far from the only thing I've found), interspaced within it includes suicide bait and some pretty graphic gore GIFs. I'm sure there's more shit out there I haven't happened across as well. Y'all be careful out there.

4chan is floating the idea of coordinating a hostile takeover of subreddits by flooding the request subreddit with their own pleas for mod-ship and then wrecking the subreddits they get ahold of. Just posted all over mod communities, sad to say but reddit brought this on themselves. (redactions are slurs)
