Time -Space Compression

The internet is used in many ways with just the click of a button and the placement of satellites all over the world for individuals to use the internet . The internet is used on today’s modern technology by many people such as through a cell phone or computer . An example of this is how people in society use an app called Twitter , to find out about things going on around the world , this is a quick way instead of tuning into the news.

This is an example of time-Space compression because the internet is used as a quick way for people to find and share things going on around the world.

Increasing Migration

After the civil rights movement African Americans people moved from the south to the north. African Americans migrated to the north for a better life. This caused whites to move away , which was called the Great White Flight.

This is a example of increased migration because the civil rights movement caused a lot of people to move among the south and north.

Flexible Accumulation

The spread of McDonald’s around the world is an example of flexible accumulation. By having more locations around the world, McDonald's is able to reach more people and make more sales, increasing profit. In addition, because minimum wage requirements and ingredient prices are not the same worldwide, McDonald’s doesn’t have to pay as much to maintain their stores in some parts of the world, further increasing profits. This is why the McDonald’s currently has a net worth of roughly 140 billion USD.

Among its many features, the Compact recognizes the contributions of migrants to the development of their host and origin countries. Migrant workers fill gaps in the labour market in host countries.

Increased migration is the increasing number of people moving across national borders. The above article is from the UN department of Economic and Social affairs, which talks about how migrants often send money back home to their families, and about the new Global Compact that has been created to make it easier and cheaper to do so, which encourages further increases in migration.

Uneven development

One example of uneven development is poverty vs the wealthy. Inequality between these two are mainly affected by the poor. For example, people who are poor do not have the same benefits and opportunities as the wealthy people. The poor struggle more with living, attaining jobs, and healthcare. Another example of uneven development can arise from schools from different communities. Students who are in wealthier schools receive brand new items such as computers and textbooks while lower income schools receive used/broken textbooks that may be hard for them to use.

Flexible Accumulation

One example of flexible accumulation is American factories selling and shipping goods to other countries who don’t who do not have the same advancements as us. This is a way for America to take advantage. These large companies want to maximize their profits. The workers are the ones who are affected the most because they may be forced to work very long hours and getting paid very little.

Chinese workers have moved to many different regions across the world in search for jobs and better opportunities. An increase in migration can lead to population overgrowth. Despite all this, migration can provide benefits to these workers such as new skills and trades. This will lead to more money and an increase of people moving all around the world in order to receive opportunities that will benefit not only their lives but their families as well.
