AGNSW Class task
4D AGNSW Visit
At 10.00 am we are heading down to level 2 to the PlayBack exhibition. If your are late please join us down at this level, where the curator will be giving us a talk.
There are two areas of interest we are focusing during this visit.
Firstly, we are interested in how artists use documentation within their work and secondly how Media based Live Art is presented in works on display.
Working in your groups collaborate to do following tasks together:
Working only in Level 2.
Walk around and identify how Media is playing a role within different works.
Discuss three different examples as a group and post them onto your Tumblrs.
Then…
Using a phone/camera collectively create a photographic montage or series of at least 6 images documenting works on level two in an alternative way, you can use any works from different exhibitions to create your series.
The Images must be creatively curated together to form a cohesive collection or series.
You might want to concentrate on a chosen theme such as textures or light or movement for example.
Then….
Using the Spacemakers and Roomshakers exhibition as your backdrop make an artwork using sound, still photography or video that creatively captures movement through the a space.
Then…(If time)
Can you identify any live elements within any works? Discuss how these live elements could be incorporated into your Live project - workshop some ideas with your group.
At 12pm meet in the front foyer and we will walk down to Firstdraft gallery together.
THIS THURSDAY AGNSW VISIT!!!!
Hi Everyone Remember we are meeting at the Art Gallery of NSW in the Domain on Thursday at 9.45am. It is really important that you are on time because I have organised the curator of the Dobell Drawing exhibition to chat to us at 10am. This is an unique opportunity to chat to a REALLY important curator! Here is a map: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/0f5DCmOxDQtZ1ERBuGHXAz?domain=goo.gl This is an important part of the course so you need to attend! There will be plenty of time to travel from the gallery back to SCA for the 2.00pm workshops (one is on sound and the other is using the lighting studio both of which are important). Remember these workshops are COMPULSORY and you need to attend!!!! If you see your fellow class mates around can you remind them of the gallery visit. Thank you and see you 9.45am this Thursday out the front of AGNSW! Vicky

Step inside the creative mind
Tonight only!!!!!
This year, in partnership with FBi Radio, DLUX MediaArts is launching a new program of discourse on art practices that operate at the intersections of science and technology.
The Constellations will begin to map the field of experimental, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and new media arts enquiry in Sydney and beyond, and provide a platform for discussing the issues that are driving artists and their collaborators in the research and development of new work.
We look into artworks that take on non-human intelligences, robotics, screen culture, virtual reality, new digital platforms, health and medicine, data, community and storytelling, as well as speculations on the future possibilities of art.
The Constellations will be available to audiences as both a series of live events held at 107 Projects, Redfern and as podcasts.
The Constellations focuses on collaborative practice, reciprocity and what motivates creative people across disciplines to work with each other towards shared goals.
Join us for the conversation and contribute to the next phase in the life of DLUX Media Arts.
This week: The Atmosphere with artists David Haines and Joyce Hinterding & collaborators on 'Soundship Descender'.
Airheads
Here is a very short video of my installation
Here is the final audio for my Bots installation. I created the audio in Audacity and added some reverb to the voices to create a chamber-like sound. This creates the feeling that you are inside someones thoughts, echoing inside their head - or in this case the void space inside a bot brain! The voices are panned onto separate left and right speakers in case I wanted to install within a space that could accomodate this type of audio. The room I ended up choosing was a bit small for the left and right speakers so i used a wireless bluetooth speaker instead.
Tech workshop - Issy showed us how to use Adobe Lightroom to edit photos
Audio
Adding the final touches to the audio in Audacity. I recorded my kids reading out the script between the two bots. From the script, I have chosen a few key statements/questions to create the audio piece for my installation. These are both existential questions concerned with the meaning of life, juxtaposed with absurd random statements about pet chickens etc. I have done this to really highlight the nonsense conversation that occurs between two AI bots, the responses they give have neither meaning nor context. I will have the audio playing on a loop which will further emphasise the circular nature of their conversation. The conversation goes nowhere and the constance repetition of phrases is both frustrating as well as being a constant reminder of the empty, emotionally void and unintelligent nature of these creations.
Install tomorrow.
