This will never happen, but...
Fjord’s new power source--we’re all speculating about it. And while he’ll probably end up celestial pact warlock or some flavor of paladin or whatever, I wanted to share my off-the-wall theory.
Fjord’s got a 20 in Cha, yeah, but he’s also got an 18 in Con. And for this, we crank the wayback machine all the way to fourth edition, and a curious class that uses their Constitution as their attack stat, using their durability and force of will to protect their friends against all odds, teleporting across the battlefield to their allies’ aid.
A 4e psionic tank, whose power source comes from their own strength of will, who demands reality allow them to shield their friends from harm, and demands it so strongly that reality has no choice but to bend to them.
It would fit Fjord’s stats, but more than that, it would fit his desires and personality: someone who would risk himself for a friend in an instant, who wishes to be a protector, who likes to teleport around the battlefield to help himself and his allies, and who has the stones to tell reality “not today,” wielding a power source that comes not from patron or deity or bloodline or study, but purely from within himself.
And it gives fun toys like this:
Matt would, of course, have to convert the class to 5e, but it’s not like he’s converted (gunslinger) or created (bloodhunter) classes before.
