A tinny little rant

do you ever notice that an artist that you like and you notice that they mostly draw white characters? And then you doubt yourself and your like "ok lets check before I make a judgment" and they post frequently so it shouldn't take too long.

so you scroll and you keep scrolling

and scrolling

still scrolling…

And like here and there there are a few melinated characters, but most of the time the implication is a white character with a tan rather than someone who's hispanic/midle eastern/asian ect.

And then you find a character that is unambiguously black and it was like 8 months ago…

and there's just this feeling

like ok

its not intentional (probably). but its just like not in their default rotation of designs to be like "oh yeah, let me make this character POC". There's this implication that blackness and brownness and ethnic hair and different noses is a more intentional(?) trait than, white?

Maybe im seeing a pattern in the noise, maybe it was just coincidence. but also there was this feeling that this artist that I enjoyed really does just treat white as the default.

It was just

sad

and like, maybe its unfair to expect a white artist to do majority black/brown designs, like I wouldn't expect any of my other POC artist friends to do with white designs. But on that same token a lot of them do draw or get commissioned white (or white coded) characters pretty frequently. so its not like I need to go outa my way to look for them to do something like that. idk, none of this is new really I just felt like posting about it since I just noticed it with someone and it made me kinda sad. that's all.

Noellevember is liky going on pause

Due to computer issues, my noellevember challenge is gunna go on hietus for a bit until my computer instability is solved, I cant deal with blue screens every few hours wiping halfing my progress. And fafing bout with the wifi card every few minutes (it literally cut out while typing this so I had to coppy it to a text document)

also I'm just kinda tired (but thats less of the reason)

It will be back eventually (and Im gunna do bonus posts in december for every day I missed) but until I get my computer fixed its goin on pause. sorry to the true beievers
