I just wanted to drop by to say how amazing your story is and how it's truly inspired me. Seeing you put in your all your hard work and intellect and seeing how much it's paid off is truly remarkable. To be honest, I'm in quite a dilemma right now. I'm worried about school and my future as a whole. I am pretty smart, if I do say so myself, but I'm not in all honors and it's freaking me out. I don't know if good colleges will take me and If I'll be able to get the scholarships that I need,Advice?
Wow, thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you to say.
I’m going to assume you’re a rising senior in high school since you mention the college process, so I apologize if I’m wrong. It’s like you took the words from my younger self because I felt the exact same way. I walked into the college process relatively confident because, well, my grades were pretty up there. And I remember a time period when I was insanely down and depressed because I got rejected from scholarship after scholarship. After 6 or so, I don’t remember haha, rejections, I was ready to give up until the one I got finally accepted me.
Between a full ride scholarship and a collection of scholarships, you can build up money by just searching and trying. For a full ride, I recommend the QuestBridge Scholarship (one I got rejected from). This scholarship is like every student’s dream come true. It’s a full ride with room and board and books and basically EVERYTHING covered. The scholarship is INSANELY prestigious and competitive not only because of the benefits, but the schools it partners with. From USC to Yale University, the scholarship is just a DREAM. So try applying for it! If you get rejected, it’s fine because you’ll have all the writing done. I wrote one of the essay prompts in the summer and eventually used that prompt as my college essay.
Just scrap as many scholarships as you can by writing essays or drawing contests or anything! There’s literally scholarships for everything, check out Fastweb!!!
I see you listen to BTS, me too gurl me too. I got into BTS because of their lyrics. N.O, No More Dream, and Young Forever hit me so hard. I would listen to BTS all the time to make me feel better and motivate me in school. A few lyrics that inspired me were:
“Don’t be trapped in someone else’s dream.” - No More Dream
“Students who are pressured to be number one live in between dream and reality,” - N.O
You can do it! You’re already confident with your grades so if you think you can do it, you CAN do it. It’s a mental game more than an academic game in my opinion. The moment you give up in the process, that’s it. You’re done. You won’t expect anything good. Nothing bad happens from thinking positively so don’t lose hope. Losing hope is the worst thing you can do. Listen to some BTS, drink some bubble tea, take a nap, and make yourself happy!
