Hey, what was that cafe in Manhattan with the red drink? I really want to go there myself now.
Hey! It’s called Cup & Cup in K-Town! The address is: 15 E 31st St! Take the train to 34th St Herald Square and walk from there.
I always get the red velvet (the red drink you mentioned) and the green tea latte and it costs $4.50 and I usually get a snack there (I recommend their egg-avo toast and floating French toast) they close at 4 pm so get there early! Their lunch menu is amazing too!!!
If you or anybody lives in the NYC area, recommend me some good, nice cafes!!
I just wanted to drop by to say how amazing your story is and how it's truly inspired me. Seeing you put in your all your hard work and intellect and seeing how much it's paid off is truly remarkable. To be honest, I'm in quite a dilemma right now. I'm worried about school and my future as a whole. I am pretty smart, if I do say so myself, but I'm not in all honors and it's freaking me out. I don't know if good colleges will take me and If I'll be able to get the scholarships that I need,Advice?
Wow, thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you to say.
I’m going to assume you’re a rising senior in high school since you mention the college process, so I apologize if I’m wrong. It’s like you took the words from my younger self because I felt the exact same way. I walked into the college process relatively confident because, well, my grades were pretty up there. And I remember a time period when I was insanely down and depressed because I got rejected from scholarship after scholarship. After 6 or so, I don’t remember haha, rejections, I was ready to give up until the one I got finally accepted me.
Between a full ride scholarship and a collection of scholarships, you can build up money by just searching and trying. For a full ride, I recommend the QuestBridge Scholarship (one I got rejected from). This scholarship is like every student’s dream come true. It’s a full ride with room and board and books and basically EVERYTHING covered. The scholarship is INSANELY prestigious and competitive not only because of the benefits, but the schools it partners with. From USC to Yale University, the scholarship is just a DREAM. So try applying for it! If you get rejected, it’s fine because you’ll have all the writing done. I wrote one of the essay prompts in the summer and eventually used that prompt as my college essay.
Just scrap as many scholarships as you can by writing essays or drawing contests or anything! There’s literally scholarships for everything, check out Fastweb!!!
I see you listen to BTS, me too gurl me too. I got into BTS because of their lyrics. N.O, No More Dream, and Young Forever hit me so hard. I would listen to BTS all the time to make me feel better and motivate me in school. A few lyrics that inspired me were:
“Don’t be trapped in someone else’s dream.” - No More Dream
“Students who are pressured to be number one live in between dream and reality,” - N.O
You can do it! You’re already confident with your grades so if you think you can do it, you CAN do it. It’s a mental game more than an academic game in my opinion. The moment you give up in the process, that’s it. You’re done. You won’t expect anything good. Nothing bad happens from thinking positively so don’t lose hope. Losing hope is the worst thing you can do. Listen to some BTS, drink some bubble tea, take a nap, and make yourself happy!
Hi, congratulations on your grades. I got decent grades without studying (75% in the complicated classes, 85% in the easy ones and 98% in English (my second language) ) and because of my behavior I got 4/5 and 5/5 in all the classes so I don't study because I'm lazy. And I hate that because now I'm going to a school that is really hard and gives bad grades easily. Can you give me tips to start studying? My summer holidays are starting.
Me, too. I was super lazy when I started studying haha. These may not be the best tips but they certainly helped me out!
buy things you want to use
I would save up money to buy nice pens and notebooks when I can instead of clothes and nice food. Then it forces me to use those utensils to make the money worth it. HORRENDOUS piece of advice but hey it helped me out haha.
find friendos
This is probably hypocritical coming from me since my friends at school don’t give two hot dogs about school but find people who’ll support and understand you! Even though my friends hated school, they supported and understood me when I couldn’t hang out or when I had to go home early.
readings!
We had to read a lot of textbooks and stuff for psychology class and haha I was the only person who would read and take notes. because of that, i was ahead of the class, i understood the class better, and used it more as review!
studying in short intervals
in psych class, we learned that cramming does not help at all. Distributed studying works the best! basically you break up what would be a potential 3 hour study session to 3 days of one hour studying. I always look through my notes even for just a small bit.
for me personally, i never study the night before the test. Too stressful for me so i just don’t do it.
find a place to study
room, cafe, library, whatever works well! i like to change up my places so i can get a breath of fresh air
MUSIC
alright i didnt actually get into k-pop until my sophomore/junior year and i only started listening because I couldn’t think in English if I listened to music in English. I ended up listening to piano or classical music but eventually decided to move into foreign language. now i’m just kpop trash.
These are the ones that come to mind haha. You dont have to like school to do well in school, I can assure you that. You just need to have the right mindset. Think that you can do it and really believe in it!! Best of luck, too!!!
HI I KNOW IT'S BEEN A FEW DAYS, BUT I'M SO PROUD THAT YOU'VE COME SO FAR. THAT YOU'VE FINALLY ACHIEVED YOUR GOALS AND ARE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE. I DO HOPE YOU'LL REST, THOUGH. PAMPER YOURSELF! tREAT YOURSELF BECASE EVERYONE IS PROUD OF YOU, OF WHO YOU'VE BECOME THROUGH YOUR HEARD WORK. I HOPE YOU'LL HAVE A LOVELY DAY BUB!! (i alwaYs end thins so abruptly, ahhhhh!) 💝💝💝
WOW. Literally everyone here is so sweet and so precious and wow people just don’t say this irl sadly. You’re so sweet for saying this!! Thank you so much ahhh I feel so fluffy now haha. No words can describe the fluff I feel right now and I wish I could give you a biiiiig hug. And a big hug to everyone else, too! Thank you again!!!! You take care as well!
you mentioned that you received a perfect score on your ap psych exam first of all congrats !! and second of all i'm going to be self studying and taking the exam next year so i was wondering if you had any tips, resources, materials, notes etc that you think could help me with it ? thank you so so much ! :))
Thank you! Let me applaud you for wanting to self-studying an AP course because that’s difficult! Other than class lectures, I use these materials:
5 Steps to a 5: AP Psychology (I linked the 2018 version from amazon)
500 AP Psychology Questions
this book is broken up into units of the ap exam and important questions from it. Most questions in ap exams are repeated from last year’s so this is a really great book!
Barron’s AP Psychology (this is 2017 version)
Barron’s AP Psychology Flashcards
This is a must!! I break the cards into units that corresponds with the books above. The definitions are simple and easy to understand, too.
For ap us history, I used both barrons and 5 steps but leaned towards 5 steps by the end of the class. Both of them have their ups and downs but 5 steps’ material was more helpful to me, so I bought only that for ap psych. It’s preference so whatever you lean towards. There’s also princeton review but not a big fan of how bulky it is haha.
Quizlet has a bunch of great review material for ap psych and I usually use it to get a definition explained differently.
The evil CollegeBoard website is the home base for ap psych so you can find old tests and frqs inside. Did I mention that they’re evil?
The thing about me is, I like to spend money on AP classes. If I can buy a book for $10 and get a perfect score and college credits, then heck yeah I’ll spend that $10. I hated having to spend money on a class (let alone a high school class) but I just gotta weigh the pros and cons. Free college credits!??!?!?! Not gonna let that opportunity pass.
Anyway, this is what I usually use for AP Psych! Hope this helps out! Best of luck for both of us so we both get 5s!!!
