Two new fires on the coast here...

It's like a Blue Oyster Cult song here in San Diego.

All three are north and west of us, one is Camp Pendleton, a marine base at the northern edge of SD County. The other is right in a populated area of Carlsbad. 

If anyone needs a place to go -- ping me and I'll hook you up. We've got an extra bedroom, enough leftover pizza to feed an army, a yard, and stuff to make cookies.

I need to re-pack my GO BAG and have it ready. We've got water. And goodness knows, enough snacks. There's no dog to worry about this year, so that's one less thing.

I normally don't freak out, but the Santa Ana's this year are CRAZY. Like 30 mph gusts and temps that are 30 degrees hotter than normal.

To give you an idea, this fire is 400 acres now, 10% contained and within the city limits. We're not talking rural here. We're talking multi-million dollar homes directly in its path. It's been raging since early afternoon and is tracking within sight of a major freeway. Not only is it going to mess with traffic, but it could burn all the way to the coast if the we don't get it under control and if the winds don't shift. 

I just hope that the winds die down. And I am thankful every day for our firefighters. 

Every day is Firefighter Friday, as far as I'm concerned. :)
