I was recently asked in an interview, “what’s the hardest part about vanlife?” I really had to think because nothing popped into my mind. It’s really great on most levels. But then I realized it’s when your vehicle is your home and needs a repair or service and must be in the shop for a few days. You are out not only your vehicle but your home and bed. This is quite a complication. Luckily my Sprinter vans have not needed much over the last nine years. Around the holidays is a good time for me to get routine service as we are with family and can borrow vehicles and guest bedrooms. I just got my van back, and it feels so good to sleep in it. It’s like home. It is home. This is the biggest challenge in van life that I could think of. Not to say it’s always easy, but it’s a lifestyle I love. We finally got a little rain in the SE. We made the most of it Kayaking on the Green River Narrows for race day and then an awesome day at Wilson Creek. Today we worked, relaxed and dried gear in this rad camp spot way up above the Linville Gorge Wilderness. Cell service is super spotty up here in the Smokey Mountains, but my @travlfi allows me to connect to another carrier and send this to you all.
