Hiding from the wind at Punta Final, Baja. It was unbearable with blowing sand and rocks on the beach that was paradise 4 hours before. A local suggested we park between these decaying stores. It was quite the experience as we found the old patio was totally sheltered and the buildings were a modern-day ghost town. This is what adventure travel is all about. As miserable as the wind was, this was an awesome experience and a glimpse into what Mexico is like. Baja is stunning, not in the normal ways but in a distinctly Mexican way. I'm trying to let go of all expectations and just take it as it comes. Camping on the beach at Punta Final was magical. $10 a night but you feel like you have the place all to yourself. Everyone says Baja keeps getting better as you go south. I'm super excited to begin exploring the southern half of my home continent. Today we crossed into Baja, Mexico, through the border town of Tecate. I can't say it was a smooth transition, but an order of tacos calmed us down, and things improved as we relaxed and let this adventure take control. So much to share in my forthcoming video about today. But for now, we are spending our first night in a post-apocalyptic abandoned resort in a gorgeous spot on the beach of the Sea of Cortez. Our second night's camp under Christmas Tree Pass on the El Camino Del Diablo. Tucker loved this camp without any nearby chollas. It was nice to have a wide open camp and a sphynx-looking rock formation in the distance on one side and mountains on the other.
