Yesterday I met that beautiful young lady from Afghanistan and she was awesome. It started when she said Alsalamu Alaykom to me. I immediately thought she was Arabic and started talking to her in my Egyptian accent. She was like what?! I translated to her then I became quite for a moment, then I started talking again and I asked her a lot of questions about her homeland, Rumi, Persian poetry, and we even talked about Steve McCurry and his wonderful photos especially in Afghanistan. I finally had the chance to tell someone from there that they have the most beautiful eyes in the whole world, including her by the way, but the most beautiful thing about this was when she asked me where I am from. I told her I’m an Egyptian and she was like oh have you ever been there? I was like yeah, pretty much all of my life, I just came here 8 months ago, and she was like get out of here! then why your English is so good? You don’t even have an accent! I was like seriously?! That’s so sweet of you, I always thought I had the most terrible accent in the whole world, and she was like nah, you’re not that bad as you think you are. Her words made me super happy. She made me believe a little bit more in me.
