In the year 500,000,053 AD motorist in flying cars are trapped in a major gridlock in the motorways that has been lasting for years. Unknown to them, the purpose of no one being able to exit is to protect them from an artificial virus that has struck New Earth. Unfortunately, they face another danger as the motorways have been infested with gigantic crablike creatures known as the Macra. While the time traveling alien known as the Doctor (Doctor 10) and his human companion Martha Jones are able to finally release the traffic, they are saddened by the death of an old friend, but not before that friend gives him a cryptic message, “You are not alone.” ("Gridlock" "Macra Terror" Doctor Who, TV)
